The North Face Striker Backpack's slim design and easy-access pockets keep you on the move when your day gets hectic. This backpack has both shoulder and waist-belt stash pockets to keep your cell phone and mp3 player within easy reach. A large front zip pocket keeps The North Face Strike Backpack well organized, so you find your PDA quickly and get on your way.
Bottom Line: The North Face Striker Backpack helps you keep up when your day is moving fast.
I like the design and fit, though it is a little smaller than I would have liked and it's lacking a water bottle pocket/pouch. It has a hook for a hydration pack and an inner pouch that separates it from other stuff in the bag, but this pouch doubles as the laptop pouch, so if you want water and your laptop, gotta find a place to put your water bottle. The front pouch does have all sorts of good organizing spots, ipod, phone, keys, pens, etc. And a hole that allows the earphones to come through so you can listen while you go. These feature seems like it would be best for bikers. I probably wouldn't get this bag if I were going hiking, but it's a good bag for me, trekking to and from class, seems to relieve the stress of two straps pulling your shoulders back instead placing the weight across our chest. Hope this helps.
This pack is so versatile and comfortable I don't think I can ever go back to a conventional backpack. I use for bike rides and the vertical design (as compared to the horizontal design of a typical messenger bag) makes for a snug and secure fit on my back. Only flaw is that the zippers are only the 3/4 design, so you can't open the pack to a full 180 degree. But the low center of gravity and great compression straps really make this back a steal for its price.
I have a 13 inch macbook, it fits fine in the laptop pouch, but I don't know it a 17 inch would. You could get the 17 inch into the bag, but probably not the laptop specific pouch. Hope that helps.

I debated sending it back, but didn't.But because it's so small I'm just taking less on my week-end trips.Lots of little compartments, all the same size, very small. No need to go on about the other things I was not happy about,North Face has decided not to bring it back.Companies that are stuck with this product are going to have to drop the price ,way low, to get rid of them.
From hanging out, to bustling your way to class this product will get it done....in style! I have enjoyed every aspect of this product. The bag has plenty of room for books, electronics, and clothes. The main compartment has a slot to place my laptop and safely strap it into the pocket. The secondary compartment has all the necessary pockets to place calculators, iPods, pens, a Walkman, or anything else. The nifty shoulder strap has a compact slot to slip your cell phone in. Like i said, this bag gets it done.... in style!
Great backpack. I was really going for the one shoulder design, without having to go with a messenger bag. I've bought several packs over the years looking for the right fit and hope i've found it. The pack holds everything needed, iPod, phones, gym gear, notebook, umbrella. It's quite the versatile pack.
Great backpack. Took it on a trip to Jamaica. Has plenty of space for magazines, extra clothes and electronics. Everything is very easy to find in pack.
Most daypack/school bags will be one size its all and fit almost any size for sure. As far as which you need that is up to your needs. This is pretty small for a regular school size bag 1800-2100 cu in is pretty normal.
Despite attempts to be stylish on campus, sometimes you have to give up and just use a backpack. But The North Face Striker is really great. I can haul every book, notebook and folder and still have room for unnecessary items like a small umbrella in the event of rain. The over the chest strap has a hook-and-loop closure which worried me at first, but there is a buckle you can tighten and secure. All in all, worth the money. I've enjoyed it. Lots of pockets to keep me organized. Definitely worth spending the money.
