Synthetic can get really stinky on your second day in the backcountry (or your fifth day of a no-washing-machine ski vacation). The North Face made the Women’s Stretch Softwool Pant to warm your legs and combat odor.

  • Merino wool naturally blocks odor and regulates your temperature
  • A bit of nylon maintains a soft, smooth, stretchy texture
  • Flat seams for comfort

Bottom Line: Nose-friendly.

so comfortable & soft and just the right amount of warmth for skiing laps at the resort or a day of hiking. I can go two weeks of skiing hard with just these--wool is the best! They make packing way easier, plus I like that it's 86% wool, natural fibers on the skin are the best.

Surprisingly warm!

These fit great and aren't too snug for base layer pants. I like to wear them hiking under a pair of hiking pants, and are good for a temperature range of 30-50 degrees. They also have moisture wiking properties, so you don't get wet if you do start to sweat in them. These also work well under blue jeans!

are these used as a base layer or an outer layer. Going to be running on the iditarod trail in two weeks. Trying to figure out layer system. Going with wool under garments and then layer on top i suppose. Wish there were just some power winter tights I could wear going to be -15 during the day. All suggestions appreciated regarding severe cold running systems.

I bought these last year and love 'em. Very comfortable, not bulky even under insulated ski pants, and when layered over silks. I have worn them for alone around the lodge, and even to sleep in on a cold night. They wash nicely and have not faded. I would buy another pair but they are so durable I think I wont need them. Hope this helps.

These are fine if you are looking for a very light pair of long underwear. I am used to Softwool medium weight and these are much tinner than that and for less extreme weather. Returned because they didn't suite my needs.
