You can’t very well bring a suitcase on a month-long expedition, so The North Face Men’s Stretch Softwool ¼-Zip Top not only wicks moisture and dries in a flash, but it helps fight gnarly odors during extended use. A functional blend of super-fine merino wool and nylon give you the ideal balance of stretch, comfort, and durability you need for prolonged mountain sieges.

Bottom Line: Fight the funk.

Magic Alpine Bullet

I consider this to be the best base layer I have ever worn, in terms of fit, performance, and comfort..., and I have worn a lot of base layers!!! The zip is perfect for a little venting. Wear this in combination with a powerstretch layer, an insulated jacket like the redpoint, and a waterproof breathable shell...and you are ready to get your alpine ninja on!!! HEEEEEEYYYYYYYYAGHHHH

Itch Free Wooly Goodness

By:

I had to double check the tag to make sure it actually had some wool in it. I normally get itchy with even the finest merino wool tops, but for some reason (maybe it's the Nylon component)I have no problem with this piece.

Having gotten past the itch issue, allow me to rave about the fit, performance and toughness of this thing.

It keeps me comfy over a wide range of temps, wicks like a mofo, dries quickly and stays funk free over repeated, sweat inducing pitches. A bit pricey, but worth the tariff.

The Warmest Base Layer Yet

By:
February 8, 2010

This base layer is everything you want it to be..... light, warm, itch free, and stretchy enough to give you the freedom of enjoying any activity. At first this base layer felt too cool at first, but as soon as you add a layer on top you will stay warm enough to enjoy all winter activities all day in comfort, but not to hot to where you start sweating. I highly recomend this shirt to everybody and it is worth every last penny.
