Perfect!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I love this jacket, looks great, is lightweigth and feminine. I got it XL, it's true to size, in length, waist, shoulders, and roomy enough to wear a light fleece or sweater underneath. It feels a little hot during long walks, so is not 100% breathable. I had the chance of testing its waterproofness and it works: I went to a concert, it was outdoors and never stop raining that night, and this jacket kept me dry; only at the end, after 3 hours standing in the rain (was a long concert) I began to feel wet in the shoulders and chest, the most exposed parts , but I understand this is normal.

size

  • Fit: Runs small

I wear a medium usually, 5'5" 130, but love the large as it has enough room to wear a sweater underneath and still move. I love the coat, I returned another name one already for size.

I bought my daughter a North Face Trench coat last year and she loved it . So much that she left it somewhere. Trying to replace and saw the Grace in a store and hers looked the same but the fabric did not make that swishy noise. Could that be the difference?

Responded on

It is possible that you could have been looking at the newer model Stella Grace Jacket which I think the only difference is the liner. Its very possible that the swishy noise might have been eliminated by that liner.

Hi elaine coviello,

Checked on the lining of The North Face Stella Grace Jacket and it looks to be a smooth polyester lining on the inside.

I am 5'6 and I weigh 190lbs. with large breast will the XL fit my body type?

Responded on

Get your 'bust' measurements and check the size chart above.
an XL is listed as 42"-44" chest; and XXL is listed at 46"-47" chest. Keep in mind you may want to layer, and you'll want room for arm articulation as well.
I am 5'6" and about 150lb. and have the N.F. Helicity jacket and the new micro Thunder Jacket, and had to size up in both (including their boots); an XL worked out fine for me. You may want to try a XXL, depending on your particular measurements.

Does this jacket run true to size? I am tossing up between a medium and a large, I am 6ft / 150 lbs and have long arms.

Responded on

A medium probably will not have the arm length you need, at 6'! Also, with your longer torso, you also will need more torso length in your jackets than the rest of us...so a L to maybe even a XL (just for the length) may be in order. I'm the same weight, only 5'6" and my XL works out well for me (but I can wear a layer underneath if I want, as well).

I'm going to London, will this jacket be able to deal with the cold and rain there?

Responded on

This is a rain/waterproof shell. It is not insulated, so by itself, it will not provide warmth. On the other hand, if layered appropriately, it can be a perfect addition to any attire.

Great Rain Jacket

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share

I bought this for my daughter who recently moved to Oregon. She described the jacket as "awesome" - perfect for frequent rainy days in the northwest. She got the green one, and loves the color too! A very successful gift!

Great in Seattle Rain!

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love this jacket. No matter if it's sprinkling outside, or dumping buckets, this jacket keeps me dry! It's lightweight, gives great coverage if I forget my umbrella, packs in my small bag just fine, fits like a dream, and does its job!

Better Looking In Person

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

So the picture is nothing special, but in person :)I ordered the XS( fit was perfect except the sleeves , I had to fold them a little over the cuff. I'm a curvy 5'1/110 meaning I still have a little J.Lo bottom.Usually wear size 4/5 in jeans. Forever looking for trench coat the didn't swallow me, make me look like a maffia member or weigh a ton. This jacket is perfect, the belt and A-line cut is very flattering ,it sits on the smallest part of your natural waist. First time I used it in the rain the rain looked like clear dots, one shake and the jacket was like I hadn't been out in the rain at all. The only down sides, hood is not removable and no inside pockets, just the two on the outer lower half .This jacket would probably need to be layered if it got extra cold outside, but for breezy or rainy days its perfect.

Great raincoat

Looks exactly like the pictures, and fits great. A bit large, but that's ok. And it's very weather-proof! All in all a good looking raincoat :)

Is this jacket machine washable?

Is this jacket machine washable?

Responded on

Yes, by itself using a delicate cycle.

Responded on

A front loader machine is preferable, but you may use a top loader. Just be careful that the agitater does not tear the fabric. It is recommend that you wash with a technical wash such as NikWax Tech Wash to clean the jacket. Regular detergents will remain in the fabric and lessen the waterproofing. Washing, of any nature will slowly remove the waterproofing treatment originally used. After washing, you may use TX Direct Wash In waterproofing to restore the piece's waterproofing. See below for links to the NixWax product.
