Customize your winter warmth with this 3-in-1 piece.

One-size-fits-all might be a bigger hoax than a Nigerian prince sending you an email about good fortune and inheritance. The North Face recognizes that people like choices, so it created the Women's Starks Triclimate Jacket. This three-in-one piece gives you a vest and jacket, and lets you customize your outfit depending on the weather, where you're going and what you're doing, your mood, and the planetary alignment that day.
HyVent 2L in both the jacket and vest keep wetness and wind from ruining your ski days. Underarm zippers in the jacket provide ventilation, while an adjustable hood keeps body heat in when the weather does a U-turn, going from sunny and calm to snowing and windy in the blink of an eye. A snap-down powder skirt won't work for a black-tie affair, but it will prevent snow and wind from creeping in and soaking your baselayers. The Starks jacket contains mid-weight Heatseeker insulation so you don't have to wear four layers below and another three layer on top to stay warm in mild winter situations.
The vest contains 550-fill goose down for warmth. The goose feathers pad the front and back of the vest to keep your core warm, while synthetic insulation fills the sides of the vest. This just means you can lower your arms, not be a walking puff-ball, and still be warm. A bit of plaid toward the top of the vest adds eye-catching style. Wear the vest alone when you're hiking or tailgating in mid-September, or when you're hitting the bar after a hard day's work on the hill. Put it over (or under) the jacket when you need extra defense against cold air, be it skiing, boarding, or on a New Year's Eve sleigh-ride through Central Park.
