Description

Stretchy fleece mid-layer that breathes and dries quickly during ski tours or mountain ascents.

When worn as a mid-layer, The North Face Skiron Fleece Jacket provides a stretchy, insulating, and breathable interface between your baselayer and your hard-shell climbing or skiing jacket. Stretchy fabrics and a low-profile design permit the mobility you need for long ski tours or demanding alpine ascents.

  • Smooth polyester outer fabric slides easily under your shell while the brushed interior feels smooth on your skin, insulates, breathes, and dries quickly
  • Stretchy, breathable panels aid mobility and feature FlashDry thermal technology to encourage the evaporation of moisture in the fabric as well as from your skin, which enables evaporative cooling during climbs
  • Full-length zipper provides venting while you tour and enables easy on-off
  • Collar further insulates your core when you wear this fleece as a mid layer
  • Flatlock stitching reduces chafing while you swing your arms on long hikes or ski tours
  • Zippered chest pocket holds your sunglasses or other accessories

I have been looking for a solid mid-layer that I can use with just a short sleeve underneath. This is definitely comfortable but there is one major problem with it -- sizing.

It runs very small. I ordered a medium as I do with all of my north face gear and it didn't fit at all. I returned it and ordered a large and it fit much better. I'm a 5'10 195lb guy with average build. So if you normally order in a medium you'll want to bump up a size.

I really wanted to like this jacket. My intent for this jacket was to use it as a mid-layer (as described) for activities like skiing, golf, and casual wear. Unfortunately, I can't really use it for any of the activities listed above. It's tight everywhere, so mobility is not great. It's hard wearing anything but a t-shirt underneath, so additional insulation is hard to do. It looks great but once you start moving around, it will ride up on you. I have an atheletic build and if this was a fashion statement jacket, it's awesome. However, this jacket did not work for me.

Extremely satisfied with this purchase. I am 5'11", 140 pounds, 32 waist and 32 chest (yes i am very thin). I bought a black medium sized jacked and it fits great. I use this jacket for walking back and forth between the trailer and the factory at work, it does a great job at keeping me warm in temperatures from 45F to 60F. I've gotten many compliments on this jacket from my friends and even my doctor! It is a bit pricey but i would highly recommend this jacket.

I bought this to replace a worn out fleece as a midlayer for snowboarding. I'm 5'10", 180lbs, with a 40"chest and a 33" waist. I own a few other TNF products and the medium fits great. Unfortunately, the Skiron jacket is way too small on me to work as a midlayer. The fit is compression in the forearm, tight in the chest, and about an inch too short. I'm going to try a size up in a store, otherwise I'll switch back to a traditional fleece.
