Lace up The North Face Single Track T.H. Shoe when you're training in the forest or heading out to the desert for an endurance race. A lightweight mesh upper breathes well and a supportive EVA midsole provides stability and cushioning on the trail.

  • Neutral design is ideal for mechanically sound runners
  • X-Dome Cradle cushions your heel and puts a little spring in your step
  • Tenacious Grip high-abrasion off-road sticky rubber provides excellent traction on uneven, wet, and rocky terrain
  • Northotic footbed enhances stability, support, and comfort
  • External tongue scree-collar prevents small stones from working their way into the shoe

Bottom Line: Hit the trail.

sensitive stability

Backcountry says this is a neutral shoe, but it isn't exactly. TNF included a section of higher density foam right under the arch to help provide stability for pronators. Although it's not as effective as the (outdated and heavy) stability platform that has dual density foams through the heel, in a TRAIL situation this is the ideal choice for a pronator. The only difference between this and the Gear of the Year Single-Track is the dual density foam and the removal of the 'Snake Plate' forefoot protection.

I loved my Single-Tracks, but like most people I pronate. I didn't really notice that I was hurting wearing a neutral shoe until I upgraded to Singe-Track THs'. My experience has been that the lack of the snake plate hasn't really made that big of a difference. The guidance, however, is enough for running on trails. I feel more energized and natural after a run these days. Do not count on it being enough guidance for running on sidewalks, roads, etc...

Tough choice. I liked the Singletrack TH more initially, but at this point it seems they're wearing thinner faster, so it's kind of a wash. Honestly they'll provide the same amount of support and cushioning, the Singletrack is just slightly more protective and the TH has better feel for the trail. I started out with Singletracks last year and switched to THs this year. It seems like a good progression.

True to size, but fairly narrow. I go with either a 9.5 or a 10, my foot actually being just shy of a 9.5. I got the 9.5 in these.

Good stuff

I have only had these shoes a short time, but so far they are extremely comfortable. I have gone on a few short hikes in the hills, and they seem to be able and willing to keep up!
