Product Not Made Right

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 8.5

Ordered these shoes in 3 different sizes, thinking maybe too big or too small but all 3 pairs ended up giving me blisters on my heels and maybe its the way the boot is made with the waterproof bottom portion of the shoe to where it meets the leather/suede area creates a line set up for blisters inside the boot. Loved it, was warm but not even walked one block and had horrible blisters.

Better than expected

I wanted a pair of boots that would keep me warm and dry here in Minnesota. I was originally set on Sorel's, but too many reviews said that the waterproofing doesn't hold up. These Shellista's had great reviews on Amazon, and they were tall. When walking the dog, I can muck through snowbanks without worrying in these boots. With a pair of wool socks, I was wearing these on a -20 day without freezing (don't get me wrong, everything feels cold at that point, but I wasn't miserable and I could still feel my toes). I usually wear a 7, or 7.5, but I got an 8 because I heard they run small. They fit great with thick socks, and are a bit loose with tights (so they are actually true to size, not small). They are pretty well waterproofed too, I noticed slight dampness after trudging through very wet slush up to my ankles. The bottom is 100% waterproof, the top is fine for snow, but if you are a puddle person I would give it an extra coat of waterproofing spray (you should redo it yearly anyway). My husband and sister got the Columbia Bugaboot and love it. I have worn them and they are both warmer and more waterproof, but they aren't as stylish (if you care) and they don't go up very high for keeping snow out. I have truly abused these boots so far, wearing them every day, and I love them. They don't show salt too bad either, which is good. The lining has not compacted yet after heavy wear, and they have held their shape quite well (many boots wrinkle and sag at the ankles after wear). These are definitely good everyday boots.

Yup. Cold.

They're snug and soft, that's for sure. But my feet were cold in 28 degrees. Granted, I spend all day outside, for hours at a time, so if you're just using these for the commute to your nice warm office or to walk a few blocks to the train, I bet they'd be great. Just not for me.

Love them!

Not only are these boots stylish, they are also so warm! I have received countless complements. The one thing I should mention is that I ran and jumped in a puddle (because I just HAD to) and some water got over the top of the boot. Only the very bottom part is actually waterproof. The top will protect against moisture from rainfall, but you cannot stand ankle deep in water without getting wet. I haven't spent too much time in deep snow in them, but I think they will stay dry.

The boots are DEFINITELY worth the investment and are much pricier everywhere else. I went to the mall to try them on before purchasing. My normal size fit and is comfortable with or without thick socks.

Cute and comfortable, but won't stand up to really cold temps. I was waiting for my kids on a 32 degree day and stood in the snow to see how they did. Definitely waterproof but my toes got cold in about 2 minutes so no go for me here in Wisconsin! If you live somewhere more temperate go for it because they really are cute! I returned them and went back to my old Baffins.
