Thanks to its three-layer Gore Windstopper shell fabric, The North Face Men’s Sentinel Windstopper Softshell Jacket is about as effective as a brick wall at blocking the wind. Thankfully, it weighs much less, making it ideal for everything from a backpacking trip to a long multi-pitch rock climb. This all-around softshell also features a high-loft fleece lining to add warmth on chilly days in the mountains.
Bottom Line: This jacket stands guard against the wind.

I have several North Face jackets and this one is a favorite. Stops the wind and rain. Nice and light so you can layer up if you want. Size is consistent with North Face brand. Wish it had outside vertical breast pocket for phone like my others but still a great jacket.
Good fit. But doesn't look like pic.

color isn't what you think. it's not all navy. the sides are lined by a black strip that you can't see in the picutre. it goes from the armpit to the waste. the sleeves are the same. there's black strip on the back of the arm that you can't see. it goes from the elbow down to the wrist. it was comfortable though.

I can't speak too much to the Venta, but typically you are going to give up most of the stretch when you opt for a windstopper membrane - it does not have a lot of stretch. If you are looking for a little extra warmth from this type of jacket, you may want to check out the Sentinel Thermal Jacket - it has a high loft fleece liner that is super comfortable and warmer than the Sentinel.

I'd scouted this item in the N. Face store and concluded it would be just right for a stylish cycling jacket -- high visibility in red chile pepper, good wind and weather-proofing, sharp enough to wear off-bike too. Although it was no longer carried at the N. Face store, I was glad to snare it from Backcountry, and at a good price too. So far, it has been just what the doctor ordered for the sports uses I had in mind.

Ofcourse this jacket was exactly what I expected, which is the perfect jacket to wear in and out throughout the winter days... Warm enough for outside, and light enough to wear inside without being drenched in sweat. Quality was perfect, couldn't be happier.
