Not what I thought

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

When I received this jacket as a birthday gift I was very excited about getting a new soft-shell jacket. It looks, and fits, great and felt very light weight.

After the first time wearing it this morning I realized it wasn't quite what I need. It feels so light weight because it has almost no thermal insulation at all.

The temperatures were mid 40's and the wind was about 9mph. I was comfortable in the jacket in these conditions while walking about in town running errands. I could not feel any wind at all through the jacket's material.

I would not try wearing this jacket in temperatures much colder than 40 without something warmer than a tee shirt underneath. I am still very happy with this jacket, it's just not going to be as multipurpose as I wanted.

The bottom line is the fit and quality of this jacket is great, if you only want a soft-shell windstopper. If you're looking for something to keep you warm through more of the chilly season this most likely won't be right for you either.
