If The North Face had used maraschino cherries to insulate the Scary Cherry Jacket, it’d be eco-friendly, but not very warm and not pretty when you fell on the slopes. It’s a good thing, then, that The North Face used 100% recycled Heatseeker Eco insulation instead.

  • HyVent 2L fabric and fully taped seams block wetness
  • Powder skirt keeps snow out during yard-sales and snaps back to reduce bulk for casual wear
  • Underarm zipper vents dump excess heat
  • RECCO rescue reflector may help during an inbounds slide

Bottom Line: Eco-friendly insulation.

Love it!

I just took this jacket on a trip to Cortina, Italy with me and it was great! The left-arm pocket is great for the electronic passes used there. The weather got pretty rough a few days but that was no problem. The numerous pockets are easy to get into and great for all the necessities!

Only one problem....while the hood fits over my helmet, the neck flaps are then too short to fasten to keep the hood up and in place. I don't wear the hood unless it is actively snowing so it didn't bother me on better days, but on heavy snow days it was a problem.

I finally got my jacket (turquoise) today, and am fairly irritated that it doesn't match the picture on the website... The picture clearly shows that the accent color around the zippers is black, but on the jacket it is definitely a greyish brown. I'm curious to know if they're all this way, or does mine just happen to be the odd one out??

i ordered this jacket in the white... love the way it looks! i bought it for snowboarding and it is perfect- lightweight yet surprisingly warm. the powder skirt thing is great for preventing your back from getting cold and wet. i'm 5 feet tall and weigh about 115 pounds- i normally get an xs in north face gear, but got a small in this jacket. Definitely get a size bigger if you're going to use it for snowboarding so you have room to move around and layer underneath.

I ordered this jacket without seeing it in person first. It has all the features I wanted in a ski jacket (hood, powder skirt, insulated, a little longer in the back, recco system, vents, etc.). I ordered the purple and could not tell from the picture that the chest and arm zippers are bright green which I really didn't like. I went with a different NorthFace instead. P.S. I am 5'7 145lbs and a medium fit great.

something to consider

I ordered this jacket for my daughter who is very petite. We ordered the small and we liked the way it fit except for the sleeves. The sleeves were way too long and because of the pocket on the upper arm it was very uncomfortable to push the sleeves up. Unfortunately we had to return it. She was very sad because other than the sleeve issue the jacket was perfect!

I haven't yet used the jacket on the slope, but I have worn it on some cold rainy days around town. The jacket is warm, stylish, and fits well for the most part. My only complaint is the hood is huge for everyday wear. It's definitely only met to be worn with a helmet. On a rainy day it comes over my face and blocks my vision. If you are a skier or boarder who doesn't wear a helmet the hood is pretty much useless. I'm 5'7" and a 130lbs and the Medium is a good fit.

It's got 80 grams of insulation - this is a pretty versatile insulation package- it will help keep you warm on cold days, but it isn't so much that you will only be able to wear the jacket on super cold days. Unless you are in a really cold climate, I wouldn't want too much more insulation than this jacket, as it would really limit the versatility.

Super cute!

By:

I love this jacket it is super adorable and the color is really bright (I got the blue) so everyone can always find me. The bottom part of the jacket comes down over your bottom so if you snowboard like me, your butt doesn't get too cold from the snow. It does a great job of keeping me warm as well. The only feature I wish this coat had is a underarmor layer for your hands where your fingures slip through and there is a little hole for your thumb. It keeps your hands warm and it keeps your jacket from riding up your arm. So that is why I rated it "pretty cool" instead of Love it. I have recieved tons of compliments from it too! :)
