This has turned out to be a pretty nice shirt. It's a little thicker than I expected, but it's super soft and wicks sweat away pretty well. I used it as a base layer when hiking in Colorado in July, and it was perfect for that. I'm not sure I noticed much of an effect from the mesh side panels, but I'm sure they don't hurt. Unlike a lot of technical shirts, this one fits true to size, which was a nice surprise. Again, this shirt is awesomely soft.

Perfect length for me at 5'5" anyone taller might find it short, the best part is no seams on the top of my shoulder, so nothing for backpack straps to rub up on...Also, it wicks sweat quite effectivly, so much so that I pretty much stink after a day in it.

I really like this shirt. It's fitted just right- not baggy or skin tight. The fabric wicks sweat well. I run in this shirt and it keeps me dry and comfortable. The side mesh-like panels also help me keep cool. It's also comfortable and has a look like an tshirt, allowing for more everyday use.
I haven't been able to try it backpacking or in temperatures above 60 yet, but so far, so good.
