Since sticks and stones will hurt your Rock 22 tent, The North Face offers the Rock 22 Footprint. Besides protecting the bottom of your tent, this footprint also lets you pitch fly-only. For warm trips when you’re traveling super light, leave your Rock 22 tent at home and pitch just the fly and this footprint for shelter from rain and sun.

Here's what others have to say...

What to say...

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

This footprint seems durable and fits The North Face Rock 22 Tent....yay

Does anyone know if this foot print is...

Does anyone know if this foot print is compatible with older models of the Rock 22, I'm not sure if any slight dimension changes have been made to newer tents that would prevent a clean fit on an older tent. I believe I have the 2007 model.

This will cover an area 89 x 54 in. If that matches up with what your floor dimensions are, then you are good to go.

It Does What Its Meant For

  • Gender:Male
  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I like it, its a lot quicker to use with the tent than a tarp plus the additional ability to just use the fly only is nice.

Will the footprint for the Rock 22 work...

Will the footprint for the Rock 22 work for the roadrunner BX 23 also?...the dimensions are almost identical and i cant find one for the roadrunner 23 itself.

It not totaly fit. you can buy a bigger footprint and try to sewn to the corners of your tent and have a "built-in footprint" this is what I have...

which side do you put up and which do you...

which side do you put up and which do you put on the ground?

The polyurethane coated side (shiny side/little red TNF tag) should go up so it doesn't get torn up so much by debris. The foot print will still do its job either way, but this way helps it last longer. Once you get that far, the side that faces down takes care of itself.

luxury worth having!

I was unsure whether or not I should buy this instead of a cheap tarp and I'm very happy I chose to buy it! It is light, compact, and a perfect fit for our tent. It is very much worth the $20 more you'll spend on it! It kept the bottom of our tent dry all night during a rain storm; plus the footprint itself is much easy to clean up after a night of rain than a big tarp. I love the fact that we can pitch our rain fly only using the footprint for a lighter/warmer trip. The footprint looked a bit small at first and I was worried it wouldn't keep the tent from getting moist around the edges, but it was not an issue at all. We stayed dry all night and had an easy clean up in the morning :)

    Handy accessory!

We liked the option of pitching only the fly on the footprint, but the custom ground cloth also ensures that the groundcloth doesn't collect rainwater and channel it under the tent—and the stakeout tabs keep the ground cloth properly positioned.

      Rock 22 footprint

Best darn thing you'll ever buy. I rarely use the actual tent in our warm weather and with this custom footprint, the fly only works great, packs down light and pretty small and the footprint is very durable for what it is. i've used mine for about 30 nights, in the real outdoors, without any tears or rips. very waterproof as well.

        Rock 22 footprint expensive ..

I like the idea of a foot print to minimize weight and space taken in my pack. Nice item and well built. Too much $$$ for a coated piece nylon but the tabs and grommets are nice for a self standing fly only setup. That being said I am glad that it does not extend to the vestibule because the last thing I want is more mud to clean after arrival at home.

          Fine product

it does what it has to do. if you have the money to spend on it, it's nice to have a footprint which matches the dimensions of the tent. only possible issue, is that the footprint does not extend out to cover the floor under the vestibule. that may or may not be what you want.

I wish I would have read this before buying this product. I think it would be perfect and better worth the money if it extended out to the vestibules. Still glad I bought it though.

            Unanswered Question

No one sells the Vector 22 footprint...

No one sells the Vector 22 footprint anymore. The floor size of the Rock 22 is very close to the Vector 22. Does anyone know for sure if the Rock22 footprint would work on the Vector22?

Anyone know if this will work for a Tephra...

Anyone know if this will work for a Tephra 22? No one sells the footprints anymore so I'm just looking for "close enough"

The floor of the Rock 22 is approximately 89"X54" while the floor of the tephra 22 is 83"X52"X43" (it tapers). So the rock 22 footprint will be anywhere from 2" to 9" too big it's your call whether that is "close enough" or not.

will this work for the 2008 rock 22?

will this work for the 2008 rock 22?

My tent model name is "rock 2". I think its the european version.

            Will the size be right?
