a little late to the party
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
I picked this up on clearance and it looks like they are no longer available. Well, honestly it just looked like North Face has changed the name. These are great! I use it as ONE of the options that I have for my shell. When it cools down here it gets wet and cold. This gives a little more resistance to the wind than the fleece liners do, and it able to be packed away much easier. This is very light, and quite warm and fits close to the body so you can layer with out any trouble.
The North Face Redpoint Insulated Jacket
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
I love this jacket. Really warm and light. One of the nicest features is the nylon lining in the sleeves. You can wear any kind of fuzzy top and it won't bind in the sleeves. One suggestion to the North Face folks: put a micro-fibre or some kind of fuzzy lining on the inside of the collar. When it's minus 15 C and you zip that collar up on a bare neck, it's a bit of a jolt so a liner would be good.
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: True to size
MY FIRST REDPOINT JACKET, FOR SURE ISNT GOING TO BE THE LAST ONE
I would like to order this jacket however,...
I would like to order this jacket however, I am only able to do so through Amazon which is the only site I am comfortable using and I have been ordering via Amazon for over 10 years now. So how would I be able to order this through Amazon, in the cosmic blue (XL)?
Amazon is a strange animal since they are a 3rd party seller and we do list some products through them. However, we are obviously not Amazon.com and are unable to set up orders in their system. We are however a secure site and an authorized retailer. If you want to check our credibility you can contact The North Face directly and we will be listed on their site as such and I am sure if you spoke with somebody their directly I would hope they would vouch for us as well.
I'm here to do that vouching Wayne is talking about. I've been not only a participant in the Backcountry community, but a customer for many years. I can tell you, with absolute certainty, this is one of the finest retailers around, online or otherwise. Never a problem with an order, never a security issue, never any grief or problems with returns and exchanges. Some of the best shopping experiences I've had, hands down, period! As a matter of fact, I'm currently dealing with Amazon on a return right now. It's a bit more of a hassle than I'm used to (like a lot!!), but BC didn't have the item I wanted...although I sure wish it was these guys I was dealing with on this instead. For whatever my word is to you, you have it...this is a great company to do business with, and all the people ( and I guess Wayne too...maybe... ; ) are fantastically dedicated to helping the customer in whatever way they can. Give them a chance to win you over. You won't be disappointed.
I would like to think I am pretty fantastic.
If I could have more kids, I would name all of them Wayne...and I would hug them constantly.
REDPOINT JACKET TNF
I just ordered my 3rd Redpoint jacket. The other two are still in excellent condition. At 5'9" and 165 lbs, the medium fitsme close to the body in the chest area and I use that size under a light weight Helly Hansen waist length rain jacket. I use the large to wear alone or under a longer jacket/coat.This is the best and most versatile jacket I own and travels with me from Maine to Kauai. If it's really cold I use the Redpoint vest in medium under the Redpoint jacket in large. Primaloft is the best insulation in my opinion and the jacket design is superb.
Very Nice Jacket
It's a very nice Jacket. The insulation is a little thin.
for years I was resisting to get this jacket, didn't know all what I was missing, practical, warm enough, superb fit, awesome price, super style, my favorite jacket so far, the best thing; my wife loves how it looks on me.
- Gender: Male
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
This jacket is great!! Perfect for cooler weather, and add a hoodie great for cold weather. Wouldn't use it for anything below zero, but for everything from mid teens up it's a go!
Not Very Warm
- Gender: Male
This jacket isn't as warm as I was expecting. It's definitely not as warm as my Patagonia Down Sweater. Overall, I'm disappointed.
I'm 6'1, 165 lbs and I am a size M.
I actually bought this when I was 6'1, 175 lbs in a size L, but it was too big.
Great layer, use it all the time

This thing is always in the pack, year round. I got it as an insulating layer for splitboarding in the backcountry, for when you top out and the winds are howling and you need instant warmth / wind blockage. Works great for that.
However, I realized that it's pretty perfect for year round use here in OR as well, and I always keep it in the pack for backpacking, etc. For the price vs. size vs. weight, I haven't found anything close.
The only thing I would change is adding a hood. What gives NF? Five stars anyway.
Just get it, you won't be sorry!
