Wear The North Face Women's Redpoint Jacket alone or under a weatherproof shell during your extended backcountry tours. The Redpoint Jacket's PrimaLoft Eco insulation and water-repellent fabric provide moisture-resistant warmth, and this jacket stuffs into the left-hand pocket for easy packing. Thanks to its zip-in functionality, the Redpoint zips into compatible TNF shells for a winter-weather barrier. When you've made it back to civilization, wear the Redpoint Jacket to the store to restock your fridge.
Bottom Line: Get winter-proof warmth in the backcountry and around town.
Overall, the jacket was cute and very packable, but it wasn't as warm as I had hoped. I live in New Orleans, so the coldest it gets is in the 30's, but this jacket is only warm enough for mid 50's. For this level of warmth, I'd rather have a fleece that is soft and fuzzy or get a really warm winter jacket. Backcountry was great to do business with though and I will definitley order my next jacket from them.
The color is great and so is the fit. A great light outer jacket or midlayer. I wear this all the time now. It packs well too. You can't go wrong on this one. I ordered a small and I am 5'3" and it fits beautifully.

I love my red point jacket! It is my first NF, and I think it was a great choice for me (Thanks ArkansasNomad for recommending it!) It is perfect for winter in the South. I am always toasty warm when I wear it (Of course, it doesn't get much below the 20's and 30's where I live, so keep that in mind). My jacket is Alba Green, and I get complements on the color all the time. I also get complements on it because everyone here has a Denali, so it stands out in a crowd of fleece. I love the texture on the Redpoint as well. It is so smooth. I opted for a small, and it fits nicely with room for a little layering underneath. My only complaint is that the sleeves are just barely long enough, and I normally like them a little too long on a jacket, but this hasn't been a problem for me really. Overall, it is just what I wanted. I think it will hold up and look nice for a long time because of the durable material.
Can anyone suggest a couple of NF shells that are compatible with the Redpoint? I will mostly wear this alone but do want to have a top layer if needed. Thanks!
Love it. For the days when it's not cold enough to warrant the big down coat-this one fills in. It is by far my favorite coat yet. A few layers under- and it is great for an afternoon hike or walking the dog in the winter. Did I mention that I love it? Fits pretty true to size also. Not for severe winter weather, but good for everything else- it's my go-to jacket this year.
Great, thanks! I am planning on wearing it while walking around in DC. It doesn't get as cold here compared to other states, but I get cold easily! I have the Greenland jacket, but am looking for something not as poofy.
It all depends on how you want to use it. If you are skiing and get cold easily I would wear it with a shell. It's insulated so it will keep you warm when cruising mountain towns. I get cold very easily and would consider buying this jacket.
i love this jacket. Its soft, warm, comfortable and breathable. I love that i can wear it when i'm chilly in a cold room or when i walk my dog in the 30s. the medium fits my arm length best, and is a little loose (but not frumpy) in the tummy fit. I'm a size 6 and i'm pretty pleased with the fit. Im excited to test it out in my month back packing trip to central and south america, as it packs down into the pocket for awesome portability. buy it. its a go!
I had to return my jacket. I am 5'8 140 lbs and smaller on the top and I usually wear medium size jackets and tops. The medium was too tight through the shoulders. I was surprised because I am not very broad through the shoulders. Just something to think about...
Is this jacket a little longer than the Apex Bionic? I originally wanted that one, but when I tried it on in the store it was like 1-2 inches too short in the front. I've read that the Redpoint measures longer, but I'm not sure how it wears.
The wife has this jacket and absolutely loves it. It layers great and easily combines w/a NF hardshell for a 3-in-1. It keeps her warm and is a good-looking piece. Well made with good features. Not heavy enough for a stand-alone winter coat, but a great trail/layering jacket!
I bought this for my wife. She liked the cut, color, construction, but complained about two things and ultimately returned it. Whenever she put her hand in the pockets they were turn inside out when she withdrew them. And the fabric was noisy when she moved. The coat is more lightweight than you would imagine because of the thinness of the shell material and primaloft fill.
Can anyone tell me the sleeve length on a womens large? I have tried on several styles in large and I like the fit except for the sleeves being too long. Hopefully this one is different....
North Face specifies the sleeve length from the centre back to be 33.5 in for the large. The medium is 32.5 and the XL is 34.5. Measure the distance from the prominent bone at center back neck, across the shoulder, over the bent elbow to the center of the wrist bone.
I got the jacket in orchid and absolutely love the color. The jacket is light weight and very warm. I wear it almost everyday. On really cold days, I layer up with a fleece underneath. You won't regret the purchase.
Is this jacket warm enough (even with a sweater?) to wear for a Minnesota winter jacket? We are not out in the snow for long periods of time. But temperatures are often in the 10-20's. I don't want a super huge poofy ski jacket, but I want something that will keep me warm. I like the look of this one. Will it keep me warm?
Hi Karen- This jacket is surprisingly warm. Even in 10-20 degree weather I find that I wear my Redpoint way more than my down puffy if I am not going to be outside for a long period of time. Primaloft is pretty amazing stuff for how low profile it is. I think you will be happy with this one. Hope this helps
Very happy with my purchase. Jacket is warm and fits true to size, with some room to layer underneath if I have to. Don't feel like the abominable snowman when I throw it on to run to the store, like my other down jacket.
does the black have a slight grid pattern when viewed up close? I noticed this at the store and wasn't sure if this jacket was last years version or if it just didn't show up in the picture..
Got this jacket without ever seeing it in person. I relied on the reviews and they were right on the mark. This jacket is very lightweight but VERY warm. I needed something without a lot of bulk since I am toting around a 3.5 month old baby this winter! It is fashionable, comfy, and durable. The material is wonderful for all the times I get puked on walking out the door... it just wipes clean! I am 5'9" and I bought the jacket in a medium (moonlight ivory). It is a great length and the arms are long enough!! I love it!
Write your comment here...Does the moonlight ivory color wash well? I know you mentioned you can wipe it clean. I like the ivory, I only hesitate because black would be better to hide dirt.

Yes, the black does have a slight grid pattern to it, I just got this jacket a month ago and I LOVE it! I had the north face denali and I sold it on ebay cuz I just didn't like the fleece, I found the wind went right through! So I bought this one instead and absolutley love it!
this was my first order from north face, and because I live in the mid west, i knew i needed something to keep me really warm. I was a bit skeptical when I recived the jacket because how light it was. But the next day I put it to the test when it was 23 degrees and windy. I was very surprised, I could n't feel the cold at all! This jacket is great, very light weight and very very warm. Thank you North Face!
This jacket is fantastic. It's not bulky at all & keeps me warm when I'm out walking the dogs. To stay even more toasty I layer it with a North Face fleece for those windy nights outdoors. You can't go wrong with the Redpoint Jacket.
The Apex Bionic is a softshell with a "spongy" exterior material and fleece lining. It can be layered, but it doesn't zip in (connect to) other NF waterproof hardshell layers. It's also a bit more weatherproof. The RedPoint is truly better for layer and on the trail. It's got a nylon exterior and is slightly stuffed. It compresses down smaller (into its own pocket), and can snap into a hardshell (creating a 3-in-1).
I recommend this jacket to any female that likes good stuff love the color style and the fit.......I will order from from this website again my package was on time and very brand new condition love it.........it's a very warm feeling......
This certainly isn't the warmest jacket out there but should keep you plenty warm most of the time. And for those extra cold nasty days, a layer or two underneath and you would be set to go. For your MA winters, a review down below says it keeps her warm for "95% of Boston's winter." And at 33 reviews and counting, with an average of 4/5 stars, I'd say you're pretty safe getting this. Keep in mind though that it's not waterproof and has no down in it for warmth which is why I state at the beginning that there's certainly warmer jackets out there.
I really wanted to like this jacket, but I just couldn't bring myself around to it. I purchased the orchid purple, which actually looks brighter in person than on the web page. I was hoping it would look more magenta than hot pink, but nope -- it's hot pink. I was also really surprised at how thin the jacket was, but for the time that I had it on, it did seem fairly warm. I like the fact that it's not too puffy and can be packed down easily. I also really like that the arms were long enough. I'm about 5'7, 145 lbs., and I always seem to have a problem finding a coat with enough length in the arms. My problem with this jacket (besides the color) is that it was a little too snug around the hips. I happen to fall right between a medium and large and went with the medium. This jacket does come down over the hips. I also thought the cut of the coat was a little strange -- it's longer in the back than in the front. Not terribly noticeable, but it sort of does this scooping action in the back. I think it's a good jacket, but it was just uncomfortable around my hips. I think I would have kept this jacket if I could have gotten it in a large black. Otherwise, I'm going to look for a jacket that doesn't go down as far over the hips.
Light in weight, but not lightweight. It keeps you warm while you look and feel stylish. It moves well; non-bulky, so you don't feel like an Eskimo. The "IT" color is Orchid Purple. That punch of color even makes you feel upbeat and ready to go about your daily doings! Be ready for people to comment on your great looking jacket. Be sure to tell them it's a North Face from Backcountry.
I LOVE this jacket. You can read all the other reviews to know how great it is. I was a little confused about the left pocket but then I read that you can put the jacket in it (COOL). I bought a large (i'm 5'11 130lbs) fits great. Still enough room to wear a sweater/sweatshirt under it. Overnight shipping was just 1 penny! WOW! PLUS its 100% recycled! AWESOME!
When I received the jacket and put it on, I immediately warmed up. The fit was off on me. It tapered nicely at the waist, but was large on the arms and shoulders, which is funny because I have broader shoulders and longer arms. Wish it would have fit correctly. I couldn't order a smaller size because the waist part would have been too snug.
I LOVE THIS JACKET! I live in Wichita, KS and I wear my jacket everyday even if it's 60 degrees outside because I am totally obsessed with it. It hasn't gotten too cold outside yet, but I know it'll keep me warm especially if I have a long sleeved shirt on underneath or a hoodie.
This Jacket is exactly what I wanted! I wanted a warm NorthFace that wasn't too bulky and blocked the wind! I go to school in Western, PA and it gets pretty cold and snowy. It's also water resistant so I'll stay dry. I will most likely wear it until it gets to under 10 degrees where I'll have to break out the huge puffy coat. Overall this was definitely worth it, lightweight and thin, but very very warm!
I think this will be a great spring/fall jacket as I don't think it's quite warm enough for the cold midwest winters. I've had it for a few weeks now and love it...size was perfect, I normally wear a small and that's what I ordered and am pleased with the fit.
Bought one for my youngest Grandaughter for her birthday, she told the others how much she liked it, so bought two more for the other two grandaughters. They are all married with young children and the black coats are perfect for their busy schedules. They like the layering potential, however most of the time the jacket is perfect worn alone.
Great versatile jacket! I've used this lightweight jacket with a light-wt polartec jac underneath it for all my car travels to stores, restaurants even in frigid conditions. Once indoor, you can leave the polartec on if you're chilly. I have a light stowable rainhat of similar material that I leave in the roomy pocket to substitute for a hood when there is unpredictable rain or snow. It fits well, not too much hip coverage for real cold days. It's probably not for extended time outdoors in very cold weather. It's surprisingly warm, as you add and take off additions, underlayer, lt hat, scarf, gloves.
I bought a jacket months ago and my family keep asking me where did I get it and I ended up to bought for Christmas gift for family. I LOVE IT!. YOU WON'T GET COLD OR FREEZE. Thanks for Backcountry.
Overall, the jacket was cute and very packable, but it wasn't as warm as I had hoped. I live in New Orleans, so the coldest it gets is in the 30's, more...
The color is great and so is the fit. A great light outer jacket or midlayer. I wear this all the time now. It packs well too. You can't go wrong more...
