Nice everyday jacket

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

The jacket is very light fits over and under any other type of clothing, great for walks and wind weather in the spring and fall. Im 5'8" and 195 lbs and fits great although does run small on the chest but thats just how I am built. Its very durable and recommend it, great buy!!

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit:True to size

grab the china blue heather from the outlet while you can. it really is a nice subdued blue and not grey like in the photo. I can't comment on performance as I just got it, but it is a beautiful piece and looks too classy to get all grubby. and the damn logos are almost the same color! a big plus if you don't like going around looking like a billboard. 6" 3" and 230 lbs and the xl fits great. the next day was nice and about 55 but windy and I found myself grabbing the Marmot windshirt instead to run the dogs. maybe this will be a town jacket...

Good outer layer in cold

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit:Runs large

Got this as light jacket, but sudden cold snap (0-5) caused me to use as outer layer. Perfect. A long sleeve tee, a hoodie, and this, walking the dogs on the trail at 5-10 degrees. Fit a bit large for "Large" but perfect with layers.

What was pictured was not what I got

This was a great deal when it was on special last December that I couldn't pass it up. It was time for a new North Face jacket. I chose the Black Heather jacket which in the picture was , well, black. Imagine my dismay when I finally got it and opened the package to see a 2-toned jacket in gray and black, the tag did say "TNF Black Heather" . It was just a little misrepresented. Not what I had wanted. I was greatly disappointed and had to return it.

Deceptive picture on the TNF Black Heath

    • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it

The picture for TNF Black heather shows black, but the product is lighter than charcoal. Was not happy that I couldnt gift it on xmas eve and had to return the product, which is just more work in addition to the disappointment.

But was kind enough to give me a free return shipping label.

    Poor fit

    • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it
    • Fit:Runs small

I am 5'9", 192 lbs. man and usually wear a size large. I ordered this jacket in a size large. I am not Mr. Fitness. But, I am not fat. Even for me, the fit is horribly boxy. And the chest size runs extremely small. The jacket was snug across the chest and dug into me in the armpit area. However, the sleeves did appear to be the correct length. I returned this item for a refund.

Between the RDT and the Pneumatic softshell jacket which one can hold better temperatures between 40 to 68 degree. Thanks

How warm does this jacket keep you? Does...

How warm does this jacket keep you? Does it have a liner? We live in MN..,

This is just a shell jacket, so it is not going to be all that warm by its self. Something like this might keep most people warm down to like 40 degrees F, though you could easily add some layers like a thick fleece or down jacket underneath to stay comfortable down to much lower (read: around 0 degrees F) temperatures.
