The North Face Women's Ray 20 Backpack has a padded sleeve that'll fit either your water reservoir or a laptop. And, a rain cover lives in a zippered pocket of the Ray 20 Backpack, so if it starts drizzling on your day hike or commute to work, you won't have to worry about soggy snacks, damp layers, or a very sad laptop. The North Face placed the Ray 20 Backpack's curved shoulder straps closer together and added an adjustable sternum strap to fit a woman's torso, so your pack stays comfortable throughout the day.

I did not like the backpack. It seems to be constucted for a tall woman, I might as well gone to the mens section. In addition the side pockets for the water bottles are poorly designed. Only small bottles will fit and even then will fall out of the pockets. Other then that nice construction. I liked the added rain cover.

This pack says there are two side pockets for water, but they don't look like the standard North Face mesh pockets. Would they be big enough to fit a Nalgene or Camelbak? For typical daily use, which includes toting around a laptop and cycling, would you recommend this pack or the Isabelle Women's pack?

I have this backpack and have a difficult time fitting a camelbak bottle in the side pockets if I have a regular sized notebook in the bag. I usually wind up carrying my water bottle.

I am a small (5'1) woman and I have found a lot of packs to just be too big. This one is small enough to fit comfortably on my back while not looking too big, but can also pack quite a bit. I fit in a towel, shoes, 2 changes of clothes and it had room for a few other basics. The water bottle holders are not huge, but can fit a Sigg or similarly sized smaller nalgene. If you're looking for a smaller pack, this one is great for a day on the trails or trips to class

15.6 should not be a problem. 17" would be a stretch, but I don't think you will have any trouble.
