At $68.00 this softshell is a steal!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

If they still have your size buy this softshell! This jacket kept me warm and dry in stead rain. I am 5' 10" 155lbs and the small fits great. Athletic fit, not boxy at all.

Is this softshell zip-in compatible with TNF jackets that accept zip-ins?

Responded on

I'm afraid that TNF doesn't have any softshells that are rated zip-in compatible. They have a couple vests, a few fleeces and a down jacket that are stated as being compatible.

Matt, the Condor Triclimate has a zip in soft shell. Will the Quantas zip into the Condor?

Great fit, great quality

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Couldn't be more pleased with my Quantas softshell. I'm 6', 190 lbs. and gambled on the Med. based on other users review. Fits snug but the stretch makes it a winner. Stayed dry in a light drizzle for a brief period. 5 stars so far.

i JUST BOUGHT IT 3 days ago, but price is changed 7 usd less, can I rebate the price difference?

That's something you'll have to chat with a Backcountry gearhead with. They're usually more than accomodating and when their not, at least they let you down easy. Good luck

Amazing Softshell

All in all this is a fantastic softshell jacket! It works well for winter hikes in the southern california mountains. Anyways, I am 6'1 and weigh 185 and the medium fits perfectly. The sleeves are a tad bit long but it doesn't bother me enough to take a star off the review. Overall, I highly recommend this jacket!

Unbelievable jacket.

Unbelievable jacket. I have another one from summit series, that's for mountaineering and this one is just perfect for outdoor.

Great Softshell

I use this as a layering piece in winter, and by itself for spring and fall, for a variety of outdoor activities. It is warm for its weight, and if you are moving it will keep you warm down to 20 degrees. Excellent fit - more athletic than a lot of Northface pieces. I have a 44 inch chest and 34 inch waist and the large fits well. The slim cut also makes it layer well under a hard shell. I have not had it long enough to tell you how well it holds up to use and abuse, but the construction and finish are first rate and comparing to other softshells for TNF and other companies I expect it to last well.

Good North Face softshell

The North Face Quantas softshell will be used for spring skiing. It's a good outer layer in the morning and skiing in the afternoon it will work just fine. Only thing I wish it had was an inside pocket. It's a bit lighter weight than I had expected. The overall fit and finish of the Quantas softshell is good. I had tried a North Face medium jacket on at a store and arms were a bit short, so I ordered a large. Even though it's a tad bigger in the chest the arms are just right. Having the chest be bigger allows for layers. The shipping was very fast. I will for sure keep Backcountry.com in my computers favorites to order more stuff in the future...Only thing is I never got a mountain goat sticker with my order.

I have a 42in chest with 36in arms, do the sleeves run long on this? If so - I would opt for the Large...if not I guess I will need the baggier XL. Thanks

I have found the sleeves to be pretty much in line with TNF's size guide. You can try both and return the one that doesn't work. BC has a great return policy. Alternatively, you may be able to try it on at a retail site. Best of luck!

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN QUANTAS VS...

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN QUANTAS VS BIONIC, BOTH SOFTSHELLS, IS ONE WARMER OR THICKER THAN OTHER?

Best Answer Responded on

Marp,
The Quantas is a recently discontinued item from The North Face and is very similar to the Apex Bionic. The Quantas has a more trim fit and higher pockets to stay out of the way of a backpack or harness resting on the hips. Both jackets use The North Face Apex ClimateBlock material with a fleece backing for added warmth.

great jacket!

  • Gender: Male

I got this to replace my old softshell the EMT's had to cut off of me. I am very pleased jacket is great fitting and warm. The pockets are a huge bonus, they'll fit almost anything and have large easy access. They will work for your hands in a pinch but aren't designed as hand warmers, but hey thats what gloves are for.

Dude, replacing the one EMT's cut off?!? Hope you're ok. Anyway, thanks for the review. Still deciding between bionic and quantas.

Great jacket & worth the price

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have the asphalt grey jacket & absolutely love it. I use the jacket also as a motorcycle jacket & it keeps me warm & cozy. It also has undergone a grease stain & machine wash within its first week & still remains pristine. Great jacket to have!
