A Summit Series puffy for cold mountaineering trips.
The North Face designed its Men's Prism Optimus Down Jacket to battle cold fronts and windy weather while you make your alpine ascent. Premium 700-fill goose down insulation offers superior warmth and remains surprisingly compressible for such a large down jacket, and its welded baffle construction eliminates cold spots and weak points that can be found in needled puffies. Pertex Endurance wraps up the warm down with windproof protection, exceptional breathability, and bit of water-resistance against light snow showers.
An expedition fit leaves plenty of room for layers when the temps drop down below zero, and the draft yoke around the neck and shoulders retains all the warmth you need to sleep soundlessly through the frigid nights. This jacket's hood is fully baffled for reliable warmth in the same temperature. Pre-cinched cuffs rid the necessity for bulky and sometimes unreliable tabs, and generous pockets give a lot of room for gear, electronics, and your own numb hands of course.

Hood too big!
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: True to size
I really loved the construction and fit of the coat but the hood was huge. Even when I fully zipped it the hood was way to big. Even when the hood wasn't on it felt to bulky around the back of the neck.
