Great gloves...thin and works well

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

These gloves are great....my 2nd pair...i love how thin they are...alot of gloves you have to take off to be able to grasp things....these have great dexterity.....and still are quite warm and wind resistant

These are decent gloves

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

These are nice fitting gloves, however they are not very warm and are not water proof. You could use these gloves and do thing with them do to the tight fitting.

They fit extremely well on big hands

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I use them a lot, they are good for driving and in cold weather temps from 10 degrees and above

Great fit - Good function

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I've only had these out about ten times but enough to form an opinion. First, the fit for me is right on the money. I was looking for something low profile that I could use with my poles that would provide good wind resistance while providing some warmth. These do the trick perfectly. I also don't like having to remove my gloves to do simple chores around camp and I've found these to serve that purpose well.

Because of their design they can also work under heavier gloves and have proven to be relatively weather resistant. They're not waterproof though so keep that in mind.

While there is an extra piece of material sewn in between the thumb and forefinger, a heavy use area for poles, I did notice some pilling almost immediately on the little finger. Not sure about the long-term durability with these but I've had good luck with TNF in the past.

I also appreciate the very small and inconspicuous buckle that allows you to snap the two gloves together when not in use.

If you can grab these on one of Backcountry's great sales I'd say these gloves are a winner.

John,
This is definitely not a waterproof glove. However, they will be relatively water resistant and very wind resistant thanks to their Polartec Power Stretch shell.

Great gloves!!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I use these gloves on cold days for everyday use and they have stood up to the challenge. They are lightweight, good fitting and surprisingly warm. I use them also as a mitten liner so I like a tight fit and these are perfect for that. My only complaint is the dexterity of the glove isn't the best, but the glove wasn't designed with grip in mind. Overall, great gloves!!!

Perfect fit

Normally I have problem to get gloves that fits my hand (S) but these gloves fits me perfect. They are very comfortable and warm, not too thin as I was expecting, so far my only complaint or improvemet could be add some grip.

Tight Fit

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Had to get the extra large for a comfortable fit.
Nice material, stretches well. Warmth is there. Not
to thrilled about the thumb-forefinger guard? padding? patch. It's like they added it on as an after
thought. There's plenty of edge after the sewing seam that catches on everything. Not happy about it.

Worth it

Great fit
Warm
Perfect for driving

Are these gloves more like for layering or can we use these pair to ski with?

Responded on

Jay, these gloves will work both ways. They're great alone for temps down to freezing (as long as you're moving), the Polartech helps block wind, and they give you great dexterity. They aren't nearly as thin as a liner, so they wont fit very well into a glove. I've never tried though... only used them in my mittens and they're okay for that. If you're looking exclusively for a liner check out merino wool liners (those are the best IMO). If you want something that will double, this will do the job.

Nice glove, but not quite perfect

I was looking for something to keep my hands a little warmer during cool winter backpacking on the Northcoast of CA... I didn't need anything bulky, and I like to have all my digits fully functional when on the trail, so these gloves seemed to fit the bill just fine. They are the perfect temperature, not too warm (my hands get sweaty in some gloves, not these!), but sufficient enough to protect me from temps around 35*F... my only complaint is that there isn't any grip on these gloves. There should be some bits of silicone or something on the finger tips to give you something to grab with. When I was reaching for my 8oz. fuel canister it was pretty slippery in the smooth grip of this glove. If this glove had a few strips of grippiness, I'd give it 5 stars...

Smear a THIN layer of Silicone caulking on the fingertips, and you will have perfection!

Check out the first ascent wind pro gloves. same thing as these guys (strech fit, polartech) but the whole palm/fingers have silicone grips.

My palm to finger measurement is 7" exactly (so is my knuckle measurement), you guessed, I'm a girl! The chart says XS, but that seems too small - any females have this glove? What size would you suggest? They don't offer these as a specific "woman's" glove anymore, which is a shame because this is what I've been looking for, it looks like the next best "woman's" would be the "etip" which I don't need but will go with if it's a better fit.....any help is appreciated!

Do you have idea how these gloves run? I checked The North face glove size chart and M should fit perfectly, but generally I am always between M and L. If by any chance someone know if they are on smaller or bigger side it will be highly appreciated. My hand measures 20cm(7,87 inches) - palm to tip of middle finger.
Kind regards,

go for the large. They're supposed to stretch to fit onto your hands, so they'll fit just fine.
