The North Face Pinyon XCR Mid Hiking Shoe - Men's - 2006 BCS

What a great pair of shoes!!!!!!! I wore them in the heat and in the snow and my feet felt cool the whole time, the vibram outsole works great and the gore-tex interior perfoms perfect, the size is a bit bigger but not unconfortable at all... I recomend them, is money well spent!!! get'em!

I'm very happy with the feel and look of the shoe. Unfortunately, the sole is pulling away from the shoe itself. It is occurring on the right shoe on the instep. At the present time, the rip is about 1" long.

I once read that every pound per boot is like adding six pounds in your pack, cut the weight and buy these boots. These are extremely lightweight, but have all the bells and whistles of a more rugged boot. You get the beauty and the brawn with its Gore-Tex lining and bombproof Vibram outsole. They could also mask as a beefed up trail runner. I would highly recommend. Hot Dog!

When I ordered this shoe I had been looking for ages for a shoe, lightweight enough to be able to run comfortably in very rough terrain where turning your ankle over is a real risk (several times a run) - I had been using hiking boots before. The Pinyon Mid provides just enough ankle support whilst the shoe is light enough to imagine that you are running in trainers. The only thing I would change is the lacing system where I much prefer the Salomon lace free system. This shoe also has a tough inner heel where I have had problems wearing out the softer linings (in other trainers) with a silght bone protrusion on both heels (hereditary). Go for it.
