This is so warm it is unreal! I was skeptical at first because it was wool and I've always had a problem with wool itching me and irritating my skin. But this wool is so soft and the only way you can tell it is wool is by how warm it keeps you. I also have extremley long hair and I keep it back in a ponytail when I'm outdoors. This hat can fit OVER my ponytail (no other hat has done that before, i have majorly thick hair) and cover my ears all at the same time. It is awesome. 5 stars to The North Face!

I am a big fan of Northface's 2009 version of Peruvian cable hat. I owed four of them.
The new one, shown here, pales. The wool percentage is lower than the 2009 version. The design, the open cable pattern, lends to a wider "net" construction. As a result, it is less warm than the old version. Aethetically, this new version is not nearly as pretty. Again, i chop it up to the open-end cable design for each of the "braid." The old one, however, is no longer available anywhere. Very sad.
