If you love the comfort and style of cargo pants but need a pair that can stand up to wear and tear on the trail, the North Face Women's Paramount Propel Cargo Pant puts the “go” in your “cargo.” Abrasion-resistant nylon, articulated knees, side vents and reinforced stitching can handle your scrambles with ease. A UPF of 30 shields your skin on sunny days, and a veritable plethora of pockets stash your stuff, keeping your hands free. The Paramount Propel Pant's water-repellent finish means a little sprinkle of rain isn't gonna send you running for cover.
As utility pants go, these are awesome. The fabric dries quickly, resists dirt, and moves easily. I love the large belt loops, and especially the big functional cargo pockets. If I could make one change, it would be to add a second button to the cargo pockets, just to make really sure nothing is going to fall out of them. But this is a minor thing. 10 out of 10 for functionality... and they look really cool. Also, I know some others have commented that the sizing isn't accurate, but I didn't have this problem. I would love to see these in some more colors.
Love the lower rise, Fabric dries fast, even after tracking in chest high wet morning dewed brush. Washes up great. I have never had the fabric pill under my pack, and it has never snagged in the brush and protects your legs.

It's hard to find cargo pants with generous pockets for women. Thank you North Face for giving us functional pockets. One small recommendation would be a different closure system for the pockets. I've almost lost a few things when crawling around. However if you remain vertical most of the time then these will work. The only other complaint is the length. I'm 5"2' and still had to have the short size altered.
They are very durable and dry fast. I agree with another who complained about the roughness of the fabric but a few washes did the trick. I plan to buy these in another color.
Cool pants although the material isn't as comfortable as I thought it would be. The style is great and runs true to size so order the size you usually wear.
Below belly button, but would not classify as a low rise. We call this a medium rise. Not as high as a traditional hiking pant, but not as low as some of your younger styles out there.
can't give an honest review, the pants run quite small and don't fit (for now)and since I "have to" give it a star, I gave it a 3 but it might well be a 5 or a 1. just remember when ordering.....
I wish these had fit. Flattering style, mid-to low rise I'd say. Not much stretch, none at the waist Roomy in the hip and thigh (but was large on me.) bought a 4 (short) in asphalt grey. Would definitely exchange for a 2, but none available. I normally wear anywhere from 0-2 sometimes 4 in pants, but the chart had the 2 at maybe too tight. I'm 5'1" about 105-110lbs (post turkey day:). Here is the ruling from "the tape". all measurements are taken with the garment laying flat in the classic v-position. (Size-4 short) Waist- 14" in the back. front "dips" about 1" lower in the front. Length (waist-bottom) about 37" Inseam - between 29-30" Bottom of pocket diameter 9.5" Leg opening -9" Note: the bottom of the leg is vented starting 7.5" from the bottom. Bottom is fastened with a button, so if tailoring is needed, have a good one.
I've never been a fan of the "slash pocket" since they are forever bowing outward, and I agree with another reviewer, that with no closure assistance, the pockets are not the best place for stuff while crawling around. Cargo pockets on both sides (single button corner closure) and two rear pockets with velcro square closure. Hope this helps.
That's what I did.... I wore tights underneath and hate to have tight fitting waist so I went up 1 size... I liked the fit, even though they were a little baggy in the hips... it worked for me.

Overall I do love these pants!! It is sooo hard to find a flattering yet functional pair of womens cargo pants that come in TALL. I've got 2 pair and because of my current job wear them almost everyday. My only complaint is the closure at the waist. The first time I wore them and had to bend over really far in my chair the snap came undone (and no, I am not squeezing into them, they do fit properly...not pulling). This has happened a few other times and is mildly annoying. I would recommend a button verses a snap for the waist closure. Other than that, they are awesome and amazing and cute and comfortable!
I bought a khaki colored one and would really like to buy the asphalt grey one. The grey is dark grey, but not as dark as in the picture (which looks black). I'm 5'3" and 115 and the 4short fits me perfectly. I'm normally a 4 in TNF and Columbia pants/shorts.
I was too slow to buy TNF Horizon pants so I quickly nabbed these before my size ran out. The material of these is thicker than the Horizon line and I'm looking forward to hiking in them in the Fall. The nylon material was unfamiliar to me but after an hour, I forgot it wasn't cotton. I also liked how it dried 2 hours after I washed them. I love, love, love the big, usable pockets.
I bought these before hiking into the Grand Canyon and back out - round trip 18 miles.... in January - they were perfect. I wore tights under them - I was never cold despite thigh high snow and 25 degree temp.... I ordered a size larger than I normally wear because I wanted to layer them and didn't want them to fit closely... I would recommend them w/out reservation. Flattering fit!
I bought these for my trip to Nepal. Wore them around Kathmandu and the low country of the trek up to Base Camp. Very comfortable and somewhat roomie in the legs. Looks good for when we were around people :) and the pockets were great for wallet and papers. I really liked the dark grey because it looked clean longer. I would buy another pair- from Backcountry.com of course!!
As a mechanic, I am constantly going through cargo pants looking for a good fit, nothing too high on the waist, useful pockets, and seasonal is always a plus. These are light weight, so I am sure they will be fine during the warmer weather and there is enough room for me to keep wearing my under armor under them in the winter. Now that they have been through a few washes I did notice the button closure issue stated in the reviews, however I always wear a belt and find that tightening it a bit helps solve the issue. They fit great over my boots and I do like the ease of the pockets as I put things in and pull them out pretty regularly during my day. Not having to fight with 2 buttons is great. Usually I end up leaving one undone on other pants anyway for this reason. Finally a pair my boss and I both agree on!
Just spent nearly two weeks straight traveling Peru in these pants. Love love love them. Kept me cool in the desert, didn't let me down in cold or wet weather, dried really quickly when I washed them. Looked great Could ask for a better pair of pants. About to buy 3 more pairs before they run out!
A good pair of cargo pants are hard to find. I was so excited about these pants and rushed to purchase them. I didn't realize they were low-waisted and cut small in the legs. The pants are not built for a woman with powerful thighs and junk in her trunk.
I got these pants, but the material is not very comfortable, if you are 5'8 and taller these pants will be short, I'm 5'8 and they seem a little short for me. I bought the gray color and they are actually a lot darker then they look on the web site so be prepared for that. They fit great and I love the pockets!
