Outbound Short - Men's

When it comes to hiking, travel, and everyday comfort, The North Face mastered lower body comfort with the Men’s Outbound Short. In rain soaked medieval cities and sweltering jungles, DWR-coated quick-drying nylon and elastane materials dish out unrivaled versatility with a side of comfort. The North Face even used a rubberized buckle on the web belt and harness-friendly security pocket on the leg. Of course you need protection from harsh sun exposure too, so UV protection factor 50 was an obvious necessity.

Bottom Line: If you can only have one short in your travel or active wardrobe, the Outbound is the one.

Comfy, light, tough and stretchy

I got these to replace a disappointing pair of Stoic Overhang shorts I scored on SteepAndCheap.

Even those these cost almost twice as much as the killer deal on SAC (but almost $10 cheaper at retail), they seem well worth it.

I am a stretch fabric junkie, and these fit great, are even lighter and stretchier, have a nice integrated belt. Even though these are much lighter than the Stoic shorts, I've seen great durability out of the very light Apex Aerobic fabrics, and these will keep me much cooler during serious exertion in hot weather.

The only minor complaint I can muster, at this point, is that the webbing they used for the belt seem to be made of cotton, and is a lot floppier, and thicker than what is usually used for integrated belts, and tends to get easily twisted, and out of shape.

Other than that, killer shorts!

Nope, mesh lined pockets and a microfleece lined waist. The rest is just a single layer of light, stretchy soft shell goodness.

Perfect shorts! I ordered a pair of the north face paramount peak shorts and they were just to baggy and long for my taste. Got these instead and they have a more athletic fit, which is what i was looking for. Great Shorts and Great customer service from backcountry. Thanks guys.

Super lightweight, stretch material. They've held up through one summer of use (although I wasn't that demanding on them). They do really well in hot weather.
