The sun slowly heats up the interior of your tent as you wiggle into the quick-drying The North Face Women’s Outbound Pant. The pant’s 50-UPF fabric protects your skin from the sun’s wrath, and if a sudden squall comes in the DWR finish helps repel water in addition to any dirt or oil that may splash up from puddles. Covert your pants into capris with the easy roll-up feature, and get all the flexibility you need when you hike up a steep pitch or embankment thanks to the articulated knees and stretch-woven fabric.

Bottom Line: Your go-to wilderness pant.

These pants fit perfectly! Comfortable, lightweight, warm, water resistant, great pockets. I love these and I'd love to have several more pairs.

Perfect outdoor pant, size runs small

By:

First -- I'm normally a 0 in most brands, but the 2 in this pant fits perfect. Not sure if that means to get a 6 if you are normally a 4 though... best bet is try it on.

The gray is a really pretty rich color. Matches everything, and is VERY flattering (especially in the but).

I love the width of the pants at the bottom. Most other pants I tried on were to wide at the bottom. These are a more slim boot-cut width.

My MINOR dislikes:
- cost
- front pockets should have zippers
- the crotch sometimes looks slightly funny (on me, at least) but I think I'm the ONLY person that notices.

great fit, comfort too.

I have a pear shape. My hips are wide. I have trouble finding pants that are flattering and comfortable too. This pant really delivered. I like a relatively low rise. I am 5' 8", about 140 lbs. I like this pant for hiking and even to wear to classes. The asphalt grey is more versitle, the tan color is clearly a hiking pant, but the color isn't as forgiving if you like to get dirty- I do. So, I recommend the grey. I bought two grey and one tan. I might go for one more pair. It isn't often I find a pant that delivers like this one. My last favorites were the mountain khaki alpine. Now they don't have reinforced knees and the sizing is wackadoodle.

Flattering and lightweight.

Nice pants. Lightweight, which is what I was looking for. Very flattering in the butt. The thigh area isn't as flattering, but overall they are great. Haven't "field tested" them, but so far I am very happy with the purchase.

Glad I took the risk on these.

I love the look, cut, weight and feel of these pants. I got them to do double-duty for hiking and travel, so I wanted something that would be rugged enough to stand up to hiking, but wouldn't look too outdoorsy when I'm using them for travel. For hiking, the material is strong enough to handle rocks and brambles, and it's lightly water resistant based on a quick home test. Because I also plan to use these for travel, I wanted a slimmer fit without any large cargo pockets. I was worried that the slimmer cut of these pants would inhibit my ability to lift my knees and do rock scrambles when hiking, but that hasn't been the case because of the articulated knees and slight stretch of the fabric.Knowing North Face tends to run small, I ordered an 8 when I am normally a 6, and I'm glad I did so; a 6 would have zipped up, but wouldn't have given me the range of motion I wanted.Bonus finds: in addition to 2 large pockets in front and 2 velcro pockets in back, there is also a velcro pocket hidden in the outer seam on the right thigh that isn't mentioned in the description. The pants also roll up into one of the back pockets like a stuff sack, which makes a nice tiny package.
