That video your buddy got of you slipping, sliding, and flailing on the ice last winter got thousands of hits on the internet, so it’s understandable that your friend hopes for a sequel this winter. No dice, though. You’re wearing The North Face Women’s Nuptse Knee-High Boot.
550-Fill down insulation for cozy, sleeping-bag-like warmth
Rubber outsole with temperature-sensitive Ice Pick lugs for navigating icy sidewalks
100% Recycled ripstop upper with DWR coating for earth-friendliness and water-handling
Plush faux-fur and partly recycled polyester lining for comfort
I would think you could wear them either way. They are 550 down and they are going to be puffy so it would depend on the size of your pants leg. My wife has boots like these and she tucks her normal pants inside them and wears her snow pants on the outside.
Very warm and comfortable. The boots are light and easy to walk around. It's pricey but if you have cold feet, then it's worthy to buy them. The boots are not knee high, they are below the knees for about 3 inches.

yes they fit right under the knee they are good for bad storms with alot of snow pretty warm n my toes didnt really get cold for like 4 hours out in knee high snow
These are super comfortable, extremely warm, and best of all - very easy to get on and off (part of why I was searching out better winter boots than my Hunters - shoes that normal jeans can be tucked into are a big plus). I ordered a size large after reading dozens of online reviews, and they fit well with normal socks. I'm guessing a half-size up would've been sufficient, but for thick socks, one size up is probably not a bad idea.
The only drawback? They are ridiculously poofy. At first, I felt like people would be looking at my puffy snow boots, but then I realized that most idiots wear fUgg books tucked into baggy sweatpants, so my North Face gear was actually quite understatedly stylish. :)
These are super-warm, so they will be great for waiting around outside. I'm always cold and have been using them in snowy Boston temps of 20F and below, and my legs have been really warm. The fleece lining also helps. I've worn them in snow and slush with no problem with wetness coming in, and haven't sprayed them. But I've never tried them in rain.
These are the best boots ever for keeping your feet warm and toasty! They are down-filled from the toe up to the elastic top, so you only need to wear pantyhose. One drawback is that they run small. I bought what I thought was a half size larger than my size and they just fit me. So keep this in mind. I intend to make these my winter boots from now on.
I'm 5'6", and they stop right at the bottom of my kneecap. Not itchy at all! They're really comfortable. The biggest downside would be if you have smaller calves, as the boots have a little more "give" in that area than I'd prefer. But overall, they're very nice!
I bought these boots for my mom after researching extensively online for a warm, light weight, most comfortable pair of boots and finally settled on this pair. It is a good buy, everything is as expected. Very warm, very easy fit. I got size nice and half. I'm a size 10 usually. I just sort of wanted to try them for my mom who is now in China and will visit this year. Even I could put them on easily, but they are a little small for me, which is exactly the right fit. My mom has very bad injuries on her knee and feet. The cold winter is her worst enemy. I'm sure she will flip at these boots and keep them even at home. They are comfortable and do make me feel that I'm wearing a serious pair of boots for the coldest winter. Actually they feel like slippers, soft and flexible. Very happy with the purchase!!
They're perfect for that. I haven't had any problems using them in snow with wetness coming in or anything. They're also very sturdy and super-warm - definitely as warm as sheepskin. They're down-filled, with a plush fleece lining against your legs.
Okay, so the hubby and I are stuck up here at Minot AFB, ND which means winters are really cold. We just had a winter storm and I got to try the boots out. Wind chill was down around -25 and my legs stayed really warm, but I found myself coming in for my winter weight socks because the tips of my toes did get cold. I ordered my actual size and after wearing them once or twice they fit just fine (I believe this is due to the down filling). Overall, I'm pleased with the boots and I would buy another pair.
Hi again - yes - down insulation should be every bit as warm as sheepskin, and maybe warmer since I haven't seem sheepskin boots that come up this high. They are totally windproof.
How waterproof are these? Can they withstand drizzle? rain? stepping in puddles? Could I throw out my old rubber boots and know that these will do the job?
Hi - They do have a DWR (durable water repelancy) treatment, so they will do just fine in a drizzle, but because the seams are not sealed, I would want to be out in full-on rain storm in them. Great for cold and snow however! Hope this helps
