The North Face knows that kids need the same quality as adults in their winter outerwear, so it created the Boys Nuptse Down Jacket. The Nuptse will help keep your ripper warm in seriously cold weather.
600-Fill down is warm and light for all-day comfort
Durable Water Repellant (DWR) finish adds more water-resistance than typical down jackets
The small fits my 6 1/2 year old son perfectly (he is average to big for his age). I was hoping for something he could wear next winter, so will probably order a size up or hand it down to his younger brother. Otherwise, it is great quality and feels like it'll be nice and warm.

This jacket can be zipped or snapped into a shell, making one jacket(essentially). Most brands use zippers that only allow other pieces of that brand to be used and not all pieces in a brand will necessarily work.
Jacket came in small plastic packaging, took a while to fluff up. Pocket seam had a 1/4 inch slash as if a razor went across it; was leaving on trip so didn't have time to exchange. Won't be ordering from this joint again! Didn't even send complimentary sticker!
I just bought this coat for NY winters...I was thinking that I should buy the compatible zip in or snap in jacket, but I don't know which product is compatible...does anyone know? -Texas clueless mom asking :)
Hey there! This jacket is zip-in compatible, but only into another jacket... it doesn't allow you to zip another into this jacket... look for a shell to zip this into...
I have not tried it yet. The jacket was for my grandson for winter. I know it will be fine , I trust the North Face Brand; bought one about five years ago for my daughter's boyfriend, have not regreated it yet! Thanks for selling this fine product!
I have an almost 8-year old that needs a winter jacket but am afraid if I get the small 7/8 it will barely fit, but the med 10/12 seems like it will be way too big. Thoughts and help please??!! Thx!
The specs for the jacket are listed under "sizing" take a look at them, grab a tape measure and measure the kid... then you will know. Nothing worse than a kid being made to wear a jacket way to big. Get one that fits properly and if he outgrows it sell it on Ebay and get another one... plus you're stimulating the economy:)
I know it's personal preference, but I would go with the med 10/12 for two reasons. One, I like to go a little bigger with an overcoat so I can layer if I need to and, two, an 8 year old is still growing quickly and with the larger size you might be able to get two winters out of it. Hope this helps!
