This is my "go-to" vest when winter comes knocking in Northern Europe - enough warmth without being too bulky and packs real small too

- Gender: Male
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
First of all vest is thinnest from what i expected..
I wasn't expecting a product that is made in Bangladesh and not USA!
Biggest worry regarding this product is that i have already wear it 5-6 times and some feathers are starting to move from inside out!
Shipping was free and super fast!
Backcountry did a price match with one of their competitors and that's why i am giving 3 and not 2 stars.
I am a dedicated owner of North Face products but after buying this vest i think that NF quality standards need improvement.
He loves it!

My man has this in Jacket form and asked for it in Vest form. It came quickly and is warm, but not too warm in 40-50 degree weather. Gender etc is for him so you guys know its not a chick wearing a guy's jacket ;)
Nice Down Vest- good service.

nice quality, although the feathers poke out quite a bit. bought it for a gift, had to exchange for bigger size. boyfriend is 200 lbs, 6'1- had to get the XL. he loves it, perfect "weight" for winter and nice enough to wear as a coat- he thinks it is warmer than a jacket! thanks backcountry, great customer service!

Hi, I'm 5'9 and 185lbs would i be a medium or large in this particular vest? Keep in mind I would like to wear a northface hoodie underneath.

I would probably go with a large, especially for layering underneath.
Very warm

When the sun was shining, I was able to put this vest over my Salomon insert and stay warm (with a T-shirt and thermal layer) while glacier skiing atop the Alps. Off the mountain, toss it over a sweater or hoody and it kept me warm. I traded up from the 550, which seemed a little dingy for the mountain, being used as a outer layer to keep my core warm.
Wish there was an inner breast pocket.

It is not waterproof but it does have a DWR coating to resist light moisture.

Awesome. way better than the acandagua vest

I bought the acandagua vest and I was not happy with the feather puking out of the vest. I paid $30 more for the Nuptse 2 and it is way better in the way it looks and feels. I have seen no feathers puke out of the vest. Now I'm contemplating whether to get the full jacket version in the red....tough decision...

what is the difference between this down vest and the Aconcagua down vest? Is it just the fill count? with the nuptse having more down in it?
Love it

I live in jersey and the weather can change by the hour so this vest is just right for going from cool to cold weather during the day plus it's cool looking with a hoodie

Best down I have ever owned

I bought this vest about a month ago and am totally impressed with it. It is the warmiest vest I have ever owned. Living in the hi Rockies of Colorado I am usually freezing my ass off for 6 to 8 months of the year. But a combo of this northface vest and some layering keeps me warm and toasty sans jacket. Having the option to be able to zip it into a hardshell jacket is nice but northface selection of xxl jackets for snowboarding is a bit anemic and bland. For sure a great companion for apre and partying the night away in Aspen. But a bit bulky for ridding or skiing.
