A Shadowlite HyVent waterproof breathable shell allows The North Face Nova 0 Degree Down Sleeping Bag to be used in wet, winter conditions that shut down other down bags. Now you can take advantage of 800+ fill down's excellent warmth, compressibility, and low weight on trips where there's a significant chance of getting your bag wet. The Nova is ideal for winter camping and mountaineering—equally ready for a night in a snow cave or frost-covered tent. Seal up the down-filled draft collar to stay warm when temps drift toward the big zero and your partners are freezing their butts off in their synthetic bags.

Bottom Line: Take advantage of The North Face Nova Sleeping Bag's 800+ down fill, even when you're guaranteed to get wet at night.

Better sleep straight.

I purchased a long bag and the advertised weight is 3lbs 9.1oz instead of the advertised 3lbs 8oz. No big deal though. But I was a little bit dissappointed that they do not include the stuff sack in this weight which came in at 5.7 oz for a total of 3lbs 14.8 oz. I think they ought to point that out in the advertisements because a bag without a stuff sack is just stupid. It's important to know for those interested in light weight camping. The face drawstrings are a little uncomfortable but I'll get used to that. Also being a down bag it compresses down to a very small bundle in its stuff sac but you also have to sleep straight. When I tried to sleep on my side, my knees and butt got cold where they were pressed against the bag. My feet were plenty warm at all times. I tested the bag's waterproof capability by pouring a puddle of water on it and letting it sit there for about ten minutes or so. It was not an all night downpour under the stars butI was then able to pour the water back into a cup and then dry off the surface of the bag, no water was felt on the bag at that point. I'm amazed by that. I did not sleep anywhere near zero degrees but it was for sure a bit below freezing and I slept more than plenty warm. I love this bag. It is a little pricey but to sleep warm and dry I think is definitely worth something. Oh, and I also like the draft collar.
