Nova Sleeping Bag: 0 Degree Down

The North Face Nova Sleeping Bag uses body-mapping anti-compression pads to keep the bottom half of the 800+ fill down from becoming compressed and useless. Shadowlite HyVent shell fabric protects the insulation from moisture whether you’re hiding in a snow cave or trapped inside a condensation-covered tent. The North Face uses baffled construction and a full-length zipper tubeto keep any cold spots from wrecking your night. This big winter bag comes in well under four pounds, so you stay more comfortable on the trail as well.

Bottom Line: Light, warm, lofty.

So lofty you need to tie it down.

This bag rules! The body-mapping anti-compression pads is no gimmick - the down is so lofty it seems like it won't ever fit in a stuff sack. But it does, and it is like 15 clowns getting out of a little car when you unpack it, filling up your tent with a warm cocoon of down. I got size Long, and is feels more like 7'6'' than the advertised 6'6'', so if you're wavering on the size I would go smaller.

this bag is not "waterproof" though it has a moisture resistant shell fabric. you would need a bivy or tent in rain or high moisture environment. also make sure to look at Marmot and Western Mountaineering in this price range.

covers almost all of my bag needs!

works great for almost any sleeping bag situation for me. I sleep cold, so really appreciate the coziness and the loft of the down--conforms nicely and fills in the cracks, nothing worse than a drafty air pocket to keep me awake! car camping all year round at trailheads in the southern sierra, this is my choice....huts, yurts, tents, even friends' couches--I love it.

Another Great Bag From the North Face

By:
August 27, 2010

I have used this a few times over the last 8 months and am very satisfied. I used it one night in a bivy last February at 10,000 ft and was mostly comfortable, but it took me a little while to warm up since I got in wet after a day of waist deep snow. I also used it a few weeks ago in Colorado during some summer camping and slept just fine. I think it is worth it to buy quality and to buy down. Going cheap on a sleeping bag is like going cheap on a motorcycle helmet; it could really come down to saving your life sometime.

I am 6'1" 180 lb and feel like the bag is a little bit tight, but not bad. I would reccommend the long for my size or bigger.
