I have no idea what the hell "Windell" is taking about in his review. It was 2008 when I was introduced to my first North Face Nimble. As a farm kid from Wisconsin I have an idea what inclement weather is like and I was looking for something lite, but tough. Back then it was only a 1/4 zip. It quickly became my go-to piece of clothing. It was an adaptable piece of clothing to have when you want to tackle the weather, especially when it is unexpected.
Its been with me on fly fishing trips to rainy, cold Alaska, miles of backpacking camp trips (this thing can be used to bundle up camp fire wood and it won't tear!), wind-blown fishing ventures on Lake Michigan and Superior (blocks the wind very well), fishing in Canada (hot or cold it is comfortable to wear), Elk hunting in Colorado (Kept me warm over a sweatshirt, and worked great in the afternoon heat, it is also breathable), bird hunting from the north woods of Wisconsin to South Dakota....its been everywhere and in every element. This blocks the wind, repels the rain (in heavy downpour though it will soak through after an hour, but it dries super fast) and looks great over a collared shirt for a business meeting. To pack minimal is my goal, and to have those items I pack be versatile. This thing on its own as a long sleeve shirt or as a shell over a hooded sweatshirt for a coat, it can't be beat. It is not at all baggy, but instead quite the perfect size, much like the old one I have. That is why I bought another one because I do not know how long this item will be around. Windell is right about this material being thinner than the original, but as technology advances the industry is finding out they can do more with less. With that being said this Nimble 1/2 zip (as advertised) is a must have. 5 stars.

I have three generations of this product and this is by far the worst one yet. The material is paper thin compared to previous versions of the product and the fit is quite different as well. I order two of these a few weeks back and one fits close to the way the older versions did but the other fits like a potato sack. TNF has really let the quality of their products drop off significantly in the last few years and this product is no exception. Additionally this product is a 1/2 zip not a 1/4 zip as the description says. If I had tried these items on before yanking off the tags they would have been returned.
