Great pair of pants

I got the khaki color of these and they are probably the most comfortable pair of pants I have ever worn. Great for the office and wearing around town. I had to order a 36 eventhough I usually wear a 34 but these give plenty of room in the crotch and thighs as my build is a bit more athletic, 195lb and 6"1. The pockets are in a good location for me and the durability is the same as with all North Face gear. I loved these so much that I ordered the grey ones from another site. A great pair of pants that I wish I found earlier.
Great!!

Seriously, these are the best pants I've ever owned. They look as good as dress khaki's but they have all the comfort that an outdoor gear company can bring to the table. On top of that, the price is right. AWESOME!

Why have these been out of stock in 34 regular/long for the last 2 months?
I've been wearing this style for 2 years now. I live in a country where I cannot find pants to wear and it's convenient to buy something online that I know fits and looks good.
When will they be back in stock?

I don't think I really have any complaints about these pants. They're really soft, they fit me well, and they're tough as hell!
I'm 5'7, weigh about 130 and have a 29-30 waist and a 30 inseam. I bought the 30/short and the fit is pretty spot on.
Since they're casual pants, the pants fit a little looser, but I honestly can't say that it's any more baggy than my other pants. I guess I'm just young and like the low cut/looser fit... :)
All in all these are fantastic pants that I don't have any complaints with. If they had gussets in the crotch, I'd use them as climbing pants.
recommended for your 30 year old and under son/husband/boyfriend who loves the outdoors, but likes to kick back and take it slow.
If you're a slim dude, they're too baggy

Nuf said. My normal 30x30 fit my height well, but had way to much material in the ass, thigh, and knee region. It was like wearing a bunch of folded, poofy canvas. Also, their 30 waist was more like a 32. I sent it back. If you're a thicker guy, go for it.
Good but not great as it used to be

First of all, let me say that TNF pants are one of the best. They know how to make pants in terms of style, great fabric and fit. I think the A5 Utility pants are still my favorite which they discontinued a few years ago.
As for the Mt. Rainier pant, there are two weights. One is heavy cotton twill which is very soft. The other is a lighter cotton canvas fabric which is lighter than the heavier cotton twill.
The fit and comfort is not as good as the A5 or the previous year's cargo pants. The lower rise does not make the pants more comfortable. As many are complaining, the low rise does not provide a better active snug fit at all. A good test is to squat down and see how the pant contour around your leg and hip comfortably. Low rise tend to pull more fabric than standard since there is less fabric covering the waist down. Bottom line is low rise is not optimal for active wear.
Another negative is the shallow front pockets. Come one TNF, the Mt. Rainier front pocket depth is for kids. Give me pocket where I can put my wallet or keys or knife and not worry that it may fall out when I sit down. I feel the designers have missed one of the important philosophy of TNF which is functionality.
Hear me out TNF designers if you ever read this. TNF should be developed with function in mind first! Once you have gotten the function and comfort down, then begin designing the pants for great looks.
I look forward to the day when TNF pants are created with perfect balance of great fit and comfort, function and looks. TNF once had the perfect formula on the A5 utility pants (material, fit, comfort, function)

I'm 5'9" and 175 lbs. The fit is spot on and the quality is first rate. Waist is somewhat low cut, but what I'm looking for. Recommended.
Fits great......but only if

Yes they are a little on the low rise side but if you have any semblance of a well-developed set of glutes, then these pants hang nicely. Length of zipper is not an issue either but then I again....I need to unbutton my pants (out of neccesity) whenever I do either No. 1 or 2 anyway. So the zipper is a non-issue.
Fabric and the construction is durable and the fit is not of the "skinny jeans" variety. This is a pair of MEN's pants that give you enough room where you need it.
Ordered my second pair today. Need I say more?
Not for me

I gave these a try and the style of the fit is not for me. I don't wear my pants up to my chest but I don't like them this low either. I was constantly trying to pull them up.
Nothing wrong with them, just not my taste in pants.
My size is 34 and my legs are 30.

A nice pant for casual Fridays in the office. Sizing seemed to be accurate, but the rise is a little lower than expected.

Nice fabric but what is the deal with the low-rise style? There's not even enough zipper to open and take a leak! Give me back the regular-fit pants!
