Mountain Light Parka - Women's

The North Face made the Women's Mountain Light Parka with Gore-Tex waterproof breathable fabric so you'll stay dry on your mountaineering adventures. The two-layer Gore-Tex material creates a barrier against wind and water while maintaining breathability which means you can skin through winter storms without getting wet or feeling stuffy. The standard-fit Mountain Light Parka's Underarm zips help you dump heat on your ascent, and a lower-face protection panel on the removable hood blocks wind and snow. Stash your cell or small digital camera in the internal chest zip pocket.

Bottom Line: Ready for wet winter storms.

Hi Gisela - this is an uninsulated shell, so it is really only as warm as the layers that you wear with it. I will be plenty warm if you choose the right layer or two to go with it.
Hope this helps

Mountain Light

By:
August 26, 2009

I am one those who want the very best quality at a good price. After much research, the mountain light parka fit the bill. I live in Florida, so the zip in feature was important to me for all-weather versatility. The denali jacket is perfect with this. I have a tri-climate jacket, but it cannot compare to the mountain light/denali combo. These jackets last forever. I have two of them. One in the jewel blue/plume blue (it is actually a dusty blue and grayish color. Not really pastelish). The other is the moonlight ivory, which is ivory and plum-colored. This one looks great with the brownie-brown denali's. One is a size medium and one is a large and I wear them both. One fits more like a jacket, while the other is more baggy. Really it's the best of both worlds.

One last note - do not go the ebay route with north face. I learned the hard way that 99.9% of these jackets are fake. Backcountry has the best prices and the best apparel/equipment in true top brands. This is the first place I check for skiing, snowboarding, biking, you name it. If you're a sports athlete or just an active family, you will need to save Backcountry in your favorites.

LOVE THIS JACKET!!!

By:
August 9, 2008

I bought this jacket to pair with Denali, but I find myself wearing it all the time! There have even been a few cooler rainy days this summer when I have worn it alone and it is so well ventilated that it keeps me comfortable, depite being a ski jacket!!! This jacket is sooo comfortable and the material is very breathable. Well worth the money!

Great Jacket!

By:

I love this jacket.I live in New England and as you know we have a wide range of weather daily. I want to get an inside layer for it for next winter. I can see myself wearing it in all seasons. It is great right now with all the rain we are having. I love the hood. the only thing I don't like is the velcro on the sleeves and zipper keep getting caught on each other. The price was definitely right $150.00. Well worth it.

I'm probably going to purchase this coat because it's zip-in compatible. I want to zip in the Nuptse 700 fill down coat - should I order up or down on either jacket when my size is normally "small"?

Order a small Nuptse and a medium Mountain Light Parka, this will help you mobility in the jacket.

The center back length is 29", so just do your measurements to see if your bum will be dry and toasty.

Matt on the chat line said the Nuptse would zip in to this jacket. Don't know about the others. I have a Nuptse and am looking for a gore-tex shell to zip over.
