Go classic in The North Face Women’s Mountain Light Parka. This lightweight, waterproof, breathable Gore-Tex shell practically spits precipitation back at the sky and laughs in the face of gale-force winds. And it weighs very little. So pack it for a ski day, backcountry tour, chilly climb, or backpacking trip--anywhere you need defense, the Mountain Light Parka is ready. The jacket’s practical design incorporates a stretchy internal water-bottle pocket, several outer pockets, and underarm vents to assist with airflow.
Bottom Line: Pack light and smart in the mountains.
This looks like the perfect jacket for me.... All I have to do is figure out the color I want. I'm kind of sick of black, but I'm not sure what to make of moonlight ivory. My computer shows that it's light pearly gray. Is it more gray or white?
Consider moonlight ivory to be a very light grey. It's actually a good color to get, other than matching everything you pair it with, there is less stress about getting it dirty. I'll leave on saying it's the color a vibrant white jacket WOULD become anyway.
This jacket is official Gortex material mixed with North Face quality. It is light, works well with zip in liners from North Face and Columbia (others may work as well but that is all we have), and the pockets are practically positioned. The hood is adjustable to fit your head and is removable. I live in Northern WI and it blocks out the cold and wind very well! Highly recommended!
Help please! I'm unsure of size and fit. I usually wear a small but had to buy the TNF venture parka in xs because it runs big (prob'ly to fit layers under it). I don't need or want to be able to fit layers underneath. I'm 5'7" and around 130-135 lbs. Does anyone have, or tried on both the venture and mountain light parka and do both jackets have the same kind of fit? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!!!
I just got the mountain light parka in xs, and I'm pleased with how it fits. I'm 115 lbs and 5'5". It's very fitted (for a parka) and a tiny bit short. Thank goodness I live in Seattle where I won't need a thermal layer because it's far too fitted for anything bulky underneath. I'd say, go for size small.

I love this Parka. I ordered a small, but had to exchange it for a size medium. I also have the Khumbu for a zip in. Their customer service rocks and shipping is so fast.
The hood is small, too small to fit over a helmet. It does remove though. The Dark Green parts are not reinforced but are a different material/feel. I have not used it with a back pack, but the lower pockets and the sleeve pocket are low enough that they should be.
I love my parka! Its a nice waterproof jacket without being crunchy and stiff. The size seems to be set up to fit a layer underneath which is what I was looking for. If you are looking for an exact fit, no layering, you may find the size to run big.
I zip in my denali fleece, a lighter fleece that came with a triclimate jacket and a aconcagua down jacket in my mountain light, depending on how warm I need to be.
It does have what you might say is an extra zipper which allows you to zip in a fleece or liner that has a compatible zipper. If you're looking for a jacket that has that, you need a jacket that is "zip-in compatible". You will see it in the "Tech Specs" in the upper right of the description page.
