Maintain your body heat like you maintain your carefully placed steps up a snow-covered peak when you put on The North Face Mountain Light Jacket. Two-way underarm zippers and a fully adjustable, removable hood allow quick and customized venting to match your spiking body heat during a climb, and with the Gore-Tex shell fabric, the Mountain Light keeps all the water out no matter what kind of nasty mood the mountain is in.

  • Fully taped, Gore-Tex shell is waterproof and breathable so no moisture collects or penetrates as you do your thing in the snow
  • Abrasion panels prevent sogginess during heavy snowfall and stand up to falling ice while climbing
  • Zip-in liner compatible so you can add a fleece that won’t move around underneath this weatherproof shell
  • Removable hood features a high collar with a soft brushed lining to protect your face while creeping up on a summit
  • Hook-and-loop cuffs seal out snow and ice when skiing or swinging axes
  • Several internal pockets keep your electronics, water, and GPS thawed and operational

Bottom Line: A waterproof breathable shell jacket that overcomes the snow and ice of worthy mountain adversaries.

Rad Shell!

I just bought this, so I can't testify to the masses how it holds up, but based on having several Gore-Tex products, I have full faith that this product kicks ass when the going gets tough. Its much lighter than My Gore Tex XCR shell, and can't wait to throw it on while going up Washington this winter. I'm a firm believer in Gore Tex and TNF so if you don't decide to go to the store and buy it, rest assured that you won't be upset about buying this! Oh and its neat that the Logo isn't plastered on the chest, no offense but sometimes its fun to be a little different than all my other TNF toting Comrades!

I never said it was for the noobs! ;) TNF makes some really nice clothing and equipment! That being said, I just like a little change up from the Chest logo to a sleeve logo! And I bought it because its bomber ;)

Good quality and reasonble price jacket,

I have owned a North Face light jacket, I’m just replacing my old one. The Light Mountain Jacket fits well in trails and mountains as well is comfortable to be used in cities and travels. The design looks good with large pockets on the chest. Good jacket for a reasonable price.

TNF Mountain Light Jacket

By:
March 23, 2011

This replaced my previous TNF Mountain Light which has served me well for over 15 years and TNF has completed at least a half-dozen, no-charge, warranty items to repair zippers, seams and velcro. My primary complaint on the new version is the zippers should be heavier, particularly the pit zips, which are often hard to open/close under the best of conditions. I still love the design with the large exterior pockets across the chest. Zippered interior pocket is great for smaller items. Time will tell how well it holds up and I won't hesitate to send it back to TNF for repairs.

Jacket of the Century

By:
January 13, 2011

I have owned my mountain light jacket for about eleven years now and it is still my go to shell for everything. This jacket fits in somewhere between a pac-lite and pro-shell. It's light enough to bring along everywhere just in case of foul weather but it's not so delicate that you really worry about scraping by branches or taking a spill. In the decade plus i've had it, i have treated this thing with revivex only twice and it's held up in even the worst rain. This jacket comes skiing with me, has been to the tops of the adirondack high peaks in summer and winter-on and off trail, and it continues to shrug off everything that's been thrown at it. I don't see myself getting another shell anytime soon. The only thing this jacket lacks are hand pockets. Excellent jacket at a great price.

Ok at best.

The North Face is not what it used to be. I purchased this jacket after owning a mountain guide jacket for 15 years. The quality of this jacket is not even close to my original one. It lacks the key chest pockets inside and out as well as the abrasion guards the on the old one. Fortunately I got mine on clearance for $150.
