When your girl needs a waterproof breathable shell for camping, hiking, and waiting for the bus in wet weather, hand her The North Face Girls' Mountain Light Jacket. The North Face made this jacket with taped seams and HyVent fabric so your girl stays dry without feeling stuffy. A removable hood decreases back bulk when the sky looks clear.
Bottom Line: Pack this waterproof shell on wet-weather camping trips.
Your website states this jacket (girls' Mountain Light) is not zip compatible....When I visit the North Face website, it states it is compatible and it has a photo. I am confused? Can you clarify?
I just bought this jacket in black/black along with the girls Khumbu fleece in black (purchased both at Backcountry this month). It is indeed zip compatible in that color -- I have the Khumbu zipped into the Mountain Light right now. There was one season that The North Face made a compatibility mistake (that might have been back in 2007 though) -- the fleece would zip in at the bottom, but stuck out at the top. This black shell is from Fall 09 (there is a season code on the inside tag) and it works beautifully.
My daughter loves this jacket. The look is cool and I love the wind-proof & water-proof aspects of it. She's nice & cozy with her denali zipped in and it's perfect for waiting for the bus and recess at school.
Please check into your answer here. I just bought both this jacket (black/black) and the matching black khumbu fleece from Backcountry this month. It zips perfectly. I wouldn't want you to lose sales!

I love this jacket with the Denali zipped into it. It is very warm and looks great too. I bought the medium even though the size chart indicated that it was a 10/12. My daughter is a slim size 7 and she's tall. The small (8) would have been short in the sleeves. So buy a size up.
i have ordered three jackets since xmas the last one was the mountain light my daughter was a little upset because she could not get a pink one but when it came in she just loves it she was so excited when she discovered she could zip her khumbu into it it is like having a three in one.thanks so much will be ordering more.
My daughter has this jacket and we are looking for an insert fleece. What would you reccommed? she has the girls MED. Would I buy Girls MED fleece or by a size up (LG)? Thanks
Hi Trude - I would stick with the girl's medium for the best fit. Here are some suggestions: -North Face Aconcagua: 550 fill down - warmest of the bunch, might be overkill in some regions -North Face South Forest: Synthetic fill nylon shell jacket - close 2nd to Aconcagua in warmth. Versatile piece. -North Face Little Wing: Super cozy high loft fleece - similar in warmth to a 200 weight fleece -North Face Khumbu Jacket: Traditional 200 weight fleece Hope this helps
I got this jacket about a month ago, and LOVE it! I have worn it just about every day since I got it. I have had a denali fleece for a long time, but it tends to let the cold wind come through.I love that it's Wind-blocking, water-proof and zip-in compatible. Not as heavy as the tri-climate outer shell. It's warm enough to wear in the winter but cool enough to wear through the early spring! I can't recommend this jacket enough! (plus I love the color - brown with the chracoal grey inside and at the collar - it goes with everything!) Definitely one of the best puchases I have ever made.
I had the same question regarding my daughter's xs denali, because I bought the Mountain Light in a small. The zippers work great together. Because of the difference in size, the Mountain Light's zipper is a little longer than the smaller denali -- but it does not affect the fit. My daughter loves it.
