With a name like Mountain Biker Lumbar, it's pretty obvious who this waist pack was designed for. It works great also for hiking, road biking, and pretty much any activity for which a lumbar pack would come in handy (think your next vacation to Florida). The Mountain Biker Lumbar has a breathable foam backpanel to minimize the dreaded wet spot, a zippered front pocket in addition to the main compartment, and water bottle pockets on either side with elastic retainer loops. Compression straps abound to keep everything nice ‘n' taut. Little goodies like a key clip and daisy chain sure come in handy.

At cow camp.

Calling it a day. Used daily. Today carried cattle medicine, syringes, first-aid kit, compass, knife, two-way radio, cell phone, headlamp, lunch, chap stick, binoculars, and still had a little room. On horse, 4-wheeler, mountain bike, skis, or on foot this is a handy side kick.

Much more than a fanny pack.

This lumbar pack is GREAT! I use it for mountain biking, hiking, skiing, work (ranching in any and all weather), Geo-caching and much more. I am working or adventuring in the outdoors daily and typically, depending on the activity, I carry a first aid kit, binoculars, chap-stick, lighter, matches, portable power (Brunton Restore), cell phone, two way radio (in one of the water holsters), wallet, bug spray, knife, and can strap a light, water resistant shell on the top with the cross top straps. At work or play I need most of those items and with this pack I am able to carry them with comfort and access them with ease.

    Pretty nice stuff

Rode 1000 miles off road, and couldn't even tell I had it on. Was very versatile and plenty of storage space. Water bottle holders hold the bottles in place in the roughest terrain. I now use it for everything- hiking, road biking, mtn biking... Extremely happy.

      great for hikes

Had this pack for almost 3 years now. Never used it mtn biking - strictly hiking. Great for long day hikes. Plenty of capacity, very durable, and secures weight very well so that the pack and its contents don't shuffle around on you even on very strenuous hikes/scrambling.

Will a small bike pump fit inside the bag?

        Best Answer

That depends on the size of your pump. A lot of the mini-pumps are designed to be mounted to the bike and are about 10 to 14 inches long. It would be an awkward fit, but probably still doable. If you have a true mini-pump, like the Blackburn Airstik SL Pump (about 6 inches long) it would fit without a problem.

You will also notice that there are vertical straps on the bag. If you don't like the pump inside or simply have a hard time getting it in, you can slide the pump horizontally through the vertical straps, but make sure you have something else attaching the pump to the bag as I can't imagine that method being extremely secure.

If all else fails, Backcountry has a great return policy.

        Best of luck!!

I am worried this will be too wide for my frame after reading the reviews about the North Face Kanga from women similar to my size. Does anyone know its dimensions with waterbottles? I have a 29 inch waist.
