The North Face Mountain Approach Shoe takes the long, narrow lace-up front and rubber-covered toe and heel design from climbing shoes and applies it to your casual kicks. The nubuck leather and recycled PET upper and the partially recycled rubber outsole ease impact on the environment, and the rubber foxing adds durability.

Bottom Line: For post-sending celebrations in town.

These shoes are really comfortable with or without socks. I've hiked miles and miles with no socks on and didn't get any blisters on my feet.

John,
I have them, they are pretty much right in the middle of the shoeroad. My foot is pretty wide and the shoes feel a bit snug, so I would imagine a narrow foot would find them just right or a little spacious. They are also really soft and have laces all the way to the toe, so I doubt they'd feel too loose.

Great Looks.... Not so great comfort

These are some awesome looking shoes. I got a lot of compliments the first time I wear them. They look great with both jeans or shorts.

Unfortunately, they are not very comfortable at all. However, If you wear some thicker high-quality socks, they are fine. Judging by the material, I think they will wear in pretty well over time, and eventually be more comfortable. Just don't try to break them in by wearing them through a 14 hour day.... you'll regret it.

Everyday Shoe

I don't buy approach shoes so I can go bouldering straight from work. I just like the way they look and they seem to be durable and as comfortable as any Vans classic slip-on. These in particular are very comfy, but can get a little stinky, regardless of all the pores in the Nubuck. Also, the "narrow lace-up" look gives my size 13 Clydesdales a slimming look. Very nice.
