Why We Like The Mountain 25 Tent

Designed to withstand surly winter storms and bone-chilling temps, the Mountain 25 is a stout shelter ideal for everything from winter camping in the Rockies to glacier hunkering in the Chugach. Although light and compact, this tent has grit with its rugged canopy and fully-sealed, cut-in bucket floor. After the final stake out, we stash our gear in the large front vestibule and zip open the internal windows and fly vents to prevent dew from forming through the night.

Base Camp bruiser

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've used this tent (and also past iteration) for multiday midweek fall and winter campouts. Through various legal and mostly ethical means through the years, I've managed to get ahold of this bad boy but never paid more than $150. Envy me. I know a good tent when I see one. Major upgrades from previous versions. I like the screened vents inside the roof (past version was not screened) and prop-up vents on the fly. Increases breathability of the tent quite a bit. Still getting used to using this effectively. I find it difficult to access the inside from the large vestibule, using it as a garage and I enter/exit from the short side. Takes choreography and planning to enter and exit. Takes at least 20-30 minutes to set this up correctly, soup to nuts (removing it from the bag, assembling poles, etc.). Not a point-to-point tent but definitely a base camp for your explorations. In the past, I've had seepage issues with many NF tent floors. A few have been very weatherproof, too. I do like NF and use it when I can. My biggest problem with their tents has always been breathability and air flow. I got rid of my beloved Rock 22 because it was just too suffocating in bad weather. My previous Mountain 25 was a condensation monster in cold weather. I replaced the stuffy Rock 22 with a less expensive brand that I do not expect to get a lot of years out of, but it has superior venting. I'm glad this new Mountain 25 version has addressed the venting 'thing'.

Great winter tent - get it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] LOVE! Great 2-person tent. First time, condensation, second time, none. When properly vented, this tent is a must for winter camping. Comes with everything you need (and four snow flap things that I have no idea what to do with). Great product. Well-made. Not the lightest, but I have figured out what to leave at home to lighten the load a little. Can fully sit up without heading your head (5'10") and LOTS of pockets on the inside. Snagged it on a great sale which makes it even better!

Durable and comfortable tent for harsh conditions

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This tent stacks up with those other expensive big name brand tent companies. This tent has over 55 camping miles and is still in excellent conditions. The PACNORWEST winters are wet, windy, and nasty but this tent keeps doing its job. Pictures taken at the Olympic Mountains.

Bomber squared

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this tent for ski mountaineering and mountain hunting (goats, sheep, caribou, grizzly) in Alaska, where conditions can be difficult. It weighs a bit more but offers protection that inspires confidence to push the envelope and climb, ski, and hunt in places that might kill you if your gear fails.

Best buy I ever made

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I live van life in the summers and travel all over the US. This tent has never let me down! I've been in the worst weather conditions in the middle of forests and still bone dry and comfortable with this tent.
