That smile means he's not cold anymore.

He no longer asks for his Teddy bear, but instead for his moondoggy—more specifically, The North Face Toddler Boys' Moondoggy Reversible Down Jacket. It's because his old stuffed animal can't change from one animal to another, like this solid-to-stripes jacket can, and the bear really isn't that warm. Super lightweight down insulation throughout the body and hood of the Moondoggy offers exceptional warmth in bitterly cold temps.

The reversible design mixes up your little man's look (and allows for quick reversing after juice spills far from home). Pockets on both the solid color and plaid printed side stash goodies. And if the elements get to be too much, the zip-in and snap-in compatible with The North Face liner-compatible shells.

  • Nylon taffeta face fabric on body
  • Nylon, polyester lining
  • DWR treatment on both sides
  • 550-fill down insulation
  • Elastic binding at cuffs, hood, and hem

Bought the 2T jacket for a friend's son, and they love it! Love that it's reversible. Perfect warmth for hanging out or skiing.

Moondoggy coat

While the color of the coat I received was not what I ordered, I'm very pleased with the coat. It is warm and not big and bulky. My boys often like to wear their coat in the car and this coat is perfect for a toddler still in a car seat.

The jacket I got mailed was super thin. I couldn't believe it was 550 down. Can someone tell me if I got a defective jacket? It felt more like a nylon shell. I don't think it'll keep my little warm at all. I have a 550 fill jacket myself and it's MUCH MUCH more packed than this jacket.

I can't speak to whether the jacket you got is defective without seeing it. But I can tell you that 550 is not a measurement of how much down is in the jacket, it's a measure of how dense it is. The higher the number, the lighter, more compressible, and fluffier the same weight in down will be, but that's all it means. you could have a tiny amount of 550 and make a thin jacket or a lot of it to make a thick one. It doesn't inherently say anything about the thickness of the jacket.

Awesome jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a great toddler jacket! It fits true to size and is nice and warm for my little guy. I love that it has a hood with elastic around the brim so that it actually stays put on a toddler who refuses to wear a hat. My husband wants one in an adult size!

Great kid's jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Got this jacket for my 5 year old son. Fits true to size and seems to be very warm. Nice reversible print on the inside. We got the blue, inside is blue and black stripes. Only complaint is the reversible side does not have pockets. But, our son loves this jacket it is his go-to for most cold days up in Park City. Definitely would recommend this jacket.
