Love it, but only one complaint

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I got the North Face Mondaze backpack for school. It holds all my gear and is really much more comfortable than my old backpack, even when I have loaded it down with my 15" laptop, several books and notebooks, necessary tools, and my lunch. The adjustment straps make it easy to position the load just right on my back. Inside, the bright green interior makes it impossible to lose stuff. The pack also seems to be fairly water resistant. I have given it daily use for a month, and it still looks the same as when I cut the tags off.

My only complaint is that the material of certain pockets gets caught in the zippers. This only happens with the zippers which have the two overlaps of material--one on either side of the zipper. Those zippers with only one flap are fine. However, the problem is with four of the six zippers on the back, and the results are very frustrating. I lost a great photograph of a black bear in Rainier National Park because my camera was in a pocket, and the material got stuck as I was trying to get it out. While this problem was not enough to make me want to send the pack back, I do hope with time the material will relax a little and stay out of the way. Barring that, I might try inserting a thin cord in the flap to give it enough bulk to stay out of the zipper's path. Other than that, I like this backpack very much.
