Don’t let your clothing slow you down when you head out on the trail in the dead of winter. Pull on The North Face Women’s Momentum Pant and get breathable stretch that moves with you. This performance running pant features The North Face’s bamboo carbon fabric, which adds natural moisture wicking and odor control, so you stay dry, comfortable, and stink-free throughout your workout. A stash pocket in the waist band holds your key or credit card, and the UPF 30 fabric blocks harsh rays on those bright cold days.

Bottom Line: A versatile pant for those who keep their running routine all year long.

Momentum for Winter Movement

These are a warm, thicker pant for stand alone usage. They work great for winter trail runs (would be too warm for the summer), lounging around the house, walking the dog, and general outdoor activities. I am 5'8, size 6 and wear a medium in these pants. Great features include a comfy waistline, nice slightly belled ankles, feminie cut, good stretch, cozy material, and a inner pocket for small items.

Love them

These are a wonderful addition to my lounge-exercise pant wardrobe, warm and fuzzy on the inside, smooth and silky on the outside. The length is perfect for me, I'm 5'8 and I ordered a medium because I like a slightly looser fit, they sit right at the top of my foot and they don't hug my lady thighs. I wear them for hanging in the house, walking the dogs, running to the grocery store, yard work, yoga and things like that.

Are these warm enough to go for a hike in the dead of the winter

Are these warm enough to go for a hike in the dead of the winter or more like a crisp fall day?

If you power hike, these should be fine. But if you prefer a more meandering pace, I'd go for a light shell pant with midweight baselayers.

The North Face Momentum Pant

By:

These pants are slightly thick and really warm, maybe too warm for just doing yoga or pilates, but would be great for something outdoors in the fall/winter. I think I'll wear The North Face Momentum Pant walking my dog in the mornings (I live in Utah).

Great X-Country Pant

By:
March 2, 2009

Wore these on an overnighter cross country backcountry trip (Sierra Nevada). I was surprised at how dry they stayed! We had good weather the first day - and they moved nicely, felt good, nice moisture wicking - really kept the snow off. As soon as it started snowing heavily, though, I opted for a heavier duty waterproof pant. I also wore gaiters to keep the snow out of my boots and the bottoms of the pants perfectly dry, as we were breaking trail at some points. I was pleasantly surprised at the warmth and comfort of these pants. On a groomed or easy backcountry slope, no other pant would be needed. If you fall a lot, you probably want to consider a more water resistant pant, or carry something in your pack.

Also, I am only 5'1", 140 lbs, and I bought a medium. They weren't OVERLY long, which made it nice, and the mediums fit comfortably over a base layer.

Ohio Girl

I bought these pants because I was looking for a warm multipurpose pant. The pants are warm, high quality, and can serve many functions (lounge, exercise, etc). However, they were not flattering to my figure. They were loose fitting and looked frumpy. If it helps, I am 5'6, 120lbs and order a small.

MT Winter

By:
January 14, 2009

I got these pants for christmas from my parents to wear running in the cold MT winters. They have so far been really warm...too warm for yoga inside, but great for snowshoeing and hiking. My snowshoes kick up snow in the back, which stuck to my pants and soaked through. So, FYI they are not water resistant/proof. I just slid on my thin goretex for the next hike. They are also comfy for around the house, but I haven't had them a month yet and they are starting to pith (ball up) on the inside of my legs where my chubby thighs rub together:( For the price I think something else might have been better, but it was a great gift and will work well for running in the brutal cold.
