Description

Made to move.

Zip on The North Face Women's Momentum Fleece Jacket before your next early-morning run. As you warm up and start to pick up speed, the soft, brushed inner face of the TKA Superstretch fabric wicks moisture to the smooth outer layer for quick dispersal. The sleek, stretchy performance fit and the smooth face of the Momentum also make it an ideal layering piece, so you don't get bunching and that annoying fleece-on-fleece grabbing when you pull your softshell on over it during a late spring camping trip.

How does this differ from the RDT Momentum? Is the sizing similar?

Responded on

Hey Null,

Thanks for your question.

The Momentum fleece and RDT Momentum fleece are identically cut so their sizing will directly correlate to each other.

I hope this helps.

Responded on

Is one particularly warmer or thicker?

Responded on

The RDT in the name stands for Rapid Dry Time and indicated the use of TNF Flashdry tech. One jacket really isn't "warmer" but if you stay dry then you are more likely to not get cold.

Can this be zipped into the apex bionic shell?

Responded on

Hey Leslie,

This fleece does not have zip-in tech but still makes for a really good layering piece anyway. Also, I don't believe the Apex Bionic shell has zip-in tech either.

Leslie,

Wayne is our most sage Guru here at Backcountry.com so he would certainly know. TNF also keeps a current list of zip/snap compatible layers on their site for each season and those can be viewed here:

Amazing!

This is a great jacket! I've worn it every day since I purchased it, from temperatures in the 60's down to the 20's. I'd recommend this jacket to anyone, even if they just wanted something to put under a heavier coat. It's very lightweight, yet it provides an a astonishing amount of warmth.

Great jacket for layering!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love this jacket!!! It's versatile enough to wear around town as a casual jacket and look cute, but it also holds its own in the backcountry. I recently used this during a 2-week backpacking trip in the Canadian Rockies - we had weather that ranged from 30 degrees to 80 degrees, and this was the only jacket I took with me - which ended up being the perfect choice! I felt it was perfect for those cold nights and mornings, and occasionally I wore a long sleeve underneath for some extra warmth, which fit perfectly underneath it without being too bulky. We also caught a bit of rain, and my rain jacket (the Marmot Precip - another great product!) fits really well over top this. I had gloves, but the pockets of this jacket are also really warm, and I liked that they zipped up as well. This jacket is kind of a smooth stretchy material (not a hard shell, and not fleece like their Denali jackets, which attracts too much dog hair in my house!) Its taken a beating with me, brushing up against trees and brush, bunched up in my pack and thrown on the ground, etc but hasn't snagged, and it seems to brush off dirt and stuff pretty easily, so I think it still looks brand new! I am 5'6'' and 145 lbs, the size small was perfect for me. Highly recommend!

I am 5'2", 108lb, Should I order XS? I like the green color. Do you still have green XS in stock? Thanks.

Responded on

You must go by your size (as listed on the size chart). If you want to be able to layer underneath for a little extra warmth, then maybe a size up (many of N.F. apparel runs a bit close, and some items run small; I've had to go up a half size on a pair of N.F. hiking boots, and a whole size up in a pair of N.F.insulated winter boots, and a size up in a N.F. Down jacket, for ex.).
The green isn't available at this time; l looked on T.N.F. site just to see if this fleece was available in the green: No to both, at this time.
So check your chest & hip measurements. You can even double check with North Face, (I often do my "homework" else where, and then buy here where it's less expensive!) and then still purchase here!
Hope this helps!

Great Fleece!

I needed a replacement for an REI jacket I wore to death, but they stopped making it. I have been looking for a while and have ordered/returned other jackets, but this one is perfect. The outside looks great and doesn't pill, and it's soft inside where it matters. I bought an XS and it is very form fitting and flattering. I am a 34 in the chest, so I debated getting a small, but am happy with the XS. The stretchiness makes it very comfortable, and I have a full range of motion in the shoulders, which is important to me. I can wear a thin long sleeve shirt under it just fine. The only negative is that the sleeves are a little long, but I think that will be nice to cover my hands when I wear it hiking in chilly weather. I am comfortable wearing it in 50-60 degree weather walking/sitting around outside, and if I am more active could probably wear it in upper the 40s and be fine. It's also thin so it will be a good layering item in the winter. Very happy with this purchase.

which one of the jackets keep you warm in winter and cool in summer....

Responded on

Depending on the type of winters you may have in your area; here in the North, this would in no way be warm enough, but you could use it as an additional layer under a down jacket, for example.
This would probably be just fine for coolish summer evenings. But I am a 'cold body' type, and when at the track (out in the country) at night, I actually still have to take something warmer than a fleece. So, that's another factor to figure in on the equation: do you tend to chill easy...or not?
Maybe one of the North Face tri-climate jackets where you can peel or add layers as needed...all for one price, might work out better for your needs!

Hope this Helps!

I'd say in the 40s if you are walking around, and hopefully no wind either. So depending on where you live and what you are doing this is likely a spring and fall piece.

What temperature would you wear this jacket?

Best Answer Responded on

Hi Jojo,

Thanks for the question. When it comes to The North Face Momentum Jacket, when you wear the jacket is going to depend on what you do and who you are. If you run fairly warm as a person and are doing physical activity, you could probably wear this jacket around the high 40 degree area with no wind and mid 50s if there is. If you run cold and are just wearing it casually, bump up each mentioned temperatures by around ten degrees. I hope this explanation helps.

This item was a gift for a family member and before I packaged it I couldn't help but notice how high of quality this jacket is. I'm going to have to get myself one of the men's ones.

She Loves It!!!

I have bought 3 of these TNF Momentum jackets for my wife over the years - 2 in black and just bought her the Magic Magenta color for Valentine's Day. She loves this jacket - it is well suited to the climate we have in the SF Bay Area. It is a bit more "stretchy" than the TNF Bionic jacket. My wife wears this jacket to play tennis in all the time.
