The North Face Men’s Modulation Insulated Jacket is your quiver of one for any cold, snowy winter pursuit. Thanks to its waterproof breathable HyVent shell and Heatseeker Eco synthetic insulation, the Modulation Jacket handles everything from a deep day at the resort to commuting during a snowstorm. Tons of pocket storage holds everything from your goggles to your MP3 player, and the Pant-a-Locks system attaches to compatible pants for a snow-free seal.
Bottom Line: Adapt to winter conditions with the Modulation Jacket.
Does anyone know if the jacket in the attached picture is the North Face Modulation Jacket? I have been looking for it and have been unable to find it, any info would be appreciated.
I like this shell. It's insulated, but light enough it doesn't sweat you out for skiing and only requires minimal layers. Also, the insulation means I can throw it on over just a sweater and head out on the town in winter conditions where you need a waterproof shell, where a non insulated shell just wouldn't cut the cold down enough. Things missed in the "tech specs": hood is removeable. drawstring hem. hand pockets and collar lined with thin soft stuff. two way zip up the front. ski pass clip. goggle wipe in sleeve pocket. This jacket is cut long, and with room to layer. Sleeves seem particularly roomy. cuffs have some elastic in them, but also cinch down by velcro - a nice combination. 4 stars because the cut isn't very athletic and the powder skirt isn't removeable. And the jacket is made entirely of TNF proprietary stuff. Hyvent and heatseeker work good and all, but isn't as nice as gore-tex and primaloft or polarguard.

Very stylish and well designed jacket. It's very warm, and was a nice surprise to find that the hood was detachable, so when I use my helmet, I have the option of removing the hood.
This seems a good choice for you then. It's made by The North Face and has a hood. It has 60 grams of insulation, which is about as low as it goes so for an insulated jacket so it's definately low bulk. It's made of Hyvent fabric which is a waterproof breathable shell.
I have a TNF Denali Jacket, Large, would I need to get an XL or should I stick w/ the large, w/ this jacket? I am only 5'7" & 220lbs, of stocky build. And will the Denali jacket zip in this or no?
Very stylish and well designed jacket. It's very warm, and was a nice surprise to find that the hood was detachable, so when I use my helmet, I have more...
