Love the fit, the style, the warmth. Dissapointed with the not-perfect sometimes stubborn zipper. Also hate that some of the large feathers are already working their way out and leaving tiny holes

I have bought two metropolis parkas by The North Face. One parka I purchased about 4 years ago and another 2 months ago on sale from Backcountry. The one I bought 4 years ago is far superior. It is soft, lightweight, and very warm, has more fill, and never loses any feathers. The zipper with a pull tag and snaps are made with quality metal. My new parka, the stitching is rough, the coat is still lightweight, but not quite as warm, and loses feathers. The zipper sticks because the mechanism does not quite fit correctly.

True to size. I got a small and had plenty of spare room left. The jacket is so thin yet so warm.

I love this coat! I am a Chicago commuter with a walk to my office from Union Station, and this coat blocks out that wicked wind and cold so well. Thanks for the great prices and unbeatable customer service, BC! My first coat order had a broken zipper, but cs sent me a free UPS shipping label, and once they saw it had been activated, they sent me a replacement coat -- didn't have to wait for their receipt and stock (like most online stores), which can take weeks.

I ordered this jacket from Backcountry a few months ago. Shipping was fast. I wasn't sure which size to go with between M and L but went with the M and I'm glad I did. I am 155lbs and I'm 5'5''. It fits perfect on my frame. I am a busy Mom of 2 and needed something warm, but not heavy and this is perfect. It is comfortable, and light, warm and cozy in the rink but also not too hot. I live in Vancouver Canada where it is damp and rainy in the winter although it's not freezing this is wet and damp which can chill your bones. It's not a rain coat, but is water repellent in light rain or drizzle. It's also great I can wear it up on the ski hill or on dry but cold days. Love this jacket and highly recommend!

The minute I got this coat I knew I made the right choice. The coat is so soft and warm, but not too bulky at all. I would recommend this coat to anyone who wants warmth, but not the bulky aspect that usually comes with a warm coat.
Beautiful Coat

I bought this coat for my daugher for Christmas. I couldn't believe when it was delivered how light it felt. But she loves it because it is warm and lightweight, not bulky like other down coats she tried on. I would recommend this coat and; also, would recommend BackCountry.com!

I first wore this coat a few weeks back when Boston temps start to drop. I walked out of the house thinking that the temp had actually risen as I was so warm. But as I soon realized it was only in the 20s. I had no clue. This coat is great looking and functional. Warmest jacket I own...and I have A LOT.
Love this Jacket!!

I purchased 2 different long coats. After trying both out for a week, I returned the other. This jacket is lightweight, easy to more in , and oh so warm outside, and not too hot when indoors.
Impressive in wind

I live in Boston, and I'm impressed with how 'wicked' warm this thing is. The wind doesn't touch me (though I haven't made it through a winter with it yet). I used to think wool coats were the way to go, but this blows my standard black city coat away.
Absolutely a Great Coat!!

I bought this coat for my fiance because we live in Chicago and the weather can get cold. Very cold. So far she has had the coat for about a month and loves it. She wore it all day last week when the temperature reached 25 degrees and not one comment was made about being cold. I would recommend this coat to anyone looking for a great fitting, warm and fashionable winter coat.

Admittedly, I'm from Florida, so I know little about "down jackets." When I was told to purchase a down parka for a December trip to the Czech republic, I googled "purple down jackets" and found this one. After some initial sticker shock, even though it was on sale, I ordered it. When it arrived, I saw the bag sitting on the porch and thought "surely this can't be the warm and cozy down jacket I was expecting." To my dismay, it was! It was very thin, not at all what I was expecting. It is a beautiful color, but even though I bought it on sale I didn't think it was worth the price to keep it. I have had to continue my search elsewhere...

My daughters love thier coats! They both got smalls & they fit perfectly. They are both between 5'3-5'7 and 115-130lbs. They did say the xs would be too small.
I can't vouch for the warmth of them because we've had an exceptionally warm winter here in the Chicago area and they haven't needed to wear them since we got them :( . Hopefully next year!
Lightweight yet does the job right

I'm 5'4 130 lbs got the small petite, fits perfectly. This jacket is awesome, it may seem thin but the down is packed and will keep you warm. Love the fact that it's lightweight too. Worth the buy.
Highly recommended!

Love the Metropolis! This is my second one. I gave my first away to someone who needed it, after which I realized I could not do without one. It's the most useful piece of outerwear that I own. The fit is spot on; the style is timeless.
Yaaay!

I ordered this coat very recently and just received it today. After trying it on and checking it out closely I had to write a review because this coat is wonderful for Northern California winter weather! I LOVE IT! I am 5' 5" and voluptuous so I got the XL in graphite grey and am SUPER happy with the details, look, quality and warmth!!!
