The North Face stuffed this jacket with 550-fill down to keep her toasty while she waits for the school bus. And zippered hand-warmer pockets, a soft collar lining, and fleece inner cuffs offer her some extra protection against Jack Frost’s biting breath. The faux fur-trimmed hood prevents the blustery wind from chilling her to the bone, and the knee length shields her legs against the elements.
Bottom Line: Just right for girls who hate being cold.... Well, that's pretty much all of them.

When my daughter is older and pontificates about how she had to walk a 1/2 mile to school in the snow back in 2010... she won't be lying. Complex logistics at a rural charter school involve just that and this jacket is going to keep her warm and toasty. I bought a size larger and the sleeves easily folded up so I know I will get 2-3 years of use out of it. High quality construction and puffy down. The length goes past her knees which will protect from driving snow. It's going to be a great winter.
