Description

Inspired by the world's most daunting alpine climbs.

The design for The North Face Meru Glove was inspired by the 2008 attempt to summit the unclimbed Meru Shark's Fin by Conrad Anker, Renan Ozturk, and Jimmy Chin. After struggling for 19 days on some of the most technical high-altitude climbing on the planet, the trio was forced to retreat only 100 meters from the summit. Their hard-earned feedback went into making the Meru Glove, which is capable of performing in the most extreme climbing and winter situations imaginable. If the Meru Glove can perform for these guys, it's all the glove you're ever going to need.

  • 2L stretch nylon shell with DWR coating provides maximum dexterity
  • Gore-Tex X-Trafit insert delivers waterproof protection in the harshest environments

Too small but warm

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

I ordered the XL size to make it easy to slip on. With the inner liner they are quite tight especially on the fingers . When the liner is removed they fit perfectly.
Also, I was hoping to wear the liner and slip on the glove when needed, it isn't this simple. I found that you have to remove the liner, attach it to the inner glove velcro then wear both again.
It was inconvenient while on ski doo during a freezing night in the arctic circle. So buy with caution.

good so far

As a loyal hestra fan I got these with some skepticism. I was having a problem finding a hestra with gortex that fit me correct so I tried these. Thus far, I am happy with these. I have had the chance to take them out in sub 20 degree temps and didn't feel that they were insufficient. I have not yet been able to see how they hold up in wet conditions. My only issue is I am little bothered by the liner. I am used to the hestra liner which stays in place when I remove my gloves. With these, I have to pull the liner out and put the liner on first and then hand into glove because the fingers of the liner pull out each time you remove the glove and you cant get your hand back in. I tried holding each finger and the glove itself but no matter what the thumb and at least one other finger of the liner pulls inside out which makes putting glove back on impossible. I am hoping that over time the liner will stay inside the glove at the fingers so I can avoid having to do this each time. I imagine that if I were out in the elements having to pull the liner and put on first each time could become a pain. I envision dropping the liner or the glove in the snow trying to get them on just because I cant get the liner finger to line up with the shell. That could be an issue. Otherwise, the glove seem well built and with good quality. When I get them wet I'll report back.
