These pants are... ok. There is really nothing wrong with the pants, my daughter just wasn't thrilled with them- and won't hardly wear them. They are thin, and are not for cool/cold weather. The waist is adjustable, which is really nice. The length seems to run a little short. My daughter(and me, too) seem to prefer Columbia.

It depends on what your definition of "cold weather" is. Generally, I would say "no". The pants are 100% nylon, and very thin. I would not think of letting my daughter wear them WITHOUT something underneath in temps below say 40 to 45 degrees F. I hope that helps :-)

These pants are great for my daughter to hike in. She starts out wearing them as pants, then as she warms up during the hike, she can unzip and take off the bottom part of the leg and they become shorts. The fabric is so light. Fantastic!

I bought these for my daughters _ sz S & M _ to take on our trip to Panama. They were a tad short, both my girls are VERY tall for their ages (8 & 10) and I followed the sizing chart. They fit well in the waist, which adjusted. They were WONDERFUL on our trip to the rainforest. I rained & the bugs were out, but the girls were protected. Washed well. They wore them on the zip line through the forest and there were no complaints. We unzipped them later in the day when we hit the beach. Well worth the money.
