The North Face Women’s Menlo Down Parka gives you puffy warmth without the marshmallow look. Fluffy goose down holds in your body heat during winter’s deep freezes, and a self-belt gives you slim style for urban wanderings. The insulated hood snaps off when you don’t need quite that much warmth and don’t want it flapping behind you.

I bought the parka in phantom red and i love it! i usually wear a size small in tops and order one size up when purchasing outerwear, but i ordered this parka in a size small and i am glad i did. The parka is very puffy and seems to be cut a little bigger so if you are a small order a small there is enough room to wear thick sweater underneath it (but you wont need to ). I love the fact that the colors available are ultra chic and currently in style. I wouldn't pass on the purchase. Looks way better in person!
No, this jacket is not made with waterproof fabric. Look out for jackets that are constructed with North Face's HyVent materials for waterproof quality.
Here are some examples of waterproof, down-filled North Face jackets, listed below from Backcountry.com's stock. They are a mix of urban-styled jackets as well as ski jackets (which still look ok when you use them as street outerwear). The down-fill specs (amount of insulation) are listed here too so you can gauge the insulation level to compare with the Menlo (at 550-fill down). The ski jackets are a tad warmer at 600-fill down. A last point - the ski jackets are generally shorter length (for movement) compared to the urban styled ones. Check them out to see what you need.

Got the squid red-best price here you can find! Urban look, unique color, and warm. Belt is a must have for womens parkas for shape, hood is big cozy and removable.

Also, shipping took literally HALF as long as I was told it was going to take. Will definitely order from backcountry again.

I bought this jacket for my daughter who just got into Cornell - where it is purportedly brutal in winter. She hasn't worn it outside yet, but professes it fits great, is really warm (indoors) and will be great for survival next year. Sorry, but that is all the info I can give you except to say that it is a very good look! Laurie

This jacket is totally worth every penny! I love it and it is perfect for the cold MN weather. It is a very attractive fit too. You should really buy this jacket; it is of high quality and will be one of your favorite purchases.

Hi Ellen - The Menlo Jacket is more fitted than many other TNF jackets, so I probably wouldn't downsize to the XS in this one-

I love this coat. I got it in the black. It is very warm. Love that I can tighten the belt so you can see a waste.
no... the polyester top-layer is 'kinda water resistant' but in a downpour, it will get wet.

Bought this jacket for my daughter in black. At first she complained about the shinnest of it, which she picked out. But she has been wearing it and says that it is very warm. She already has an older northface in gray which is a mens jacket.

Check out the tempest down jacket from The North Face. It's warm too. This jacket measures 34" for sleeve length and 27.5" center back length for size medium.

I love the warmth of this jacket but can only give 4 stars b/c there is no inside chest pocket. The hood is actually puffier than pictured. There is a small media pocket located toward the bottom of the coat so i will have to unzip to get contents. Otherwise style is very nice. The best feature of this jacket is the belt with adjustable snap buttons that actually adjusts to my 26" waist, a pleasant surprise for me.

I have this jacket 4 weeks ago. It´s very pretty but the really importat thing is that the jacket is super warm, i choosed a M size and it fit to me perfectly. I just love it. Worth every penny you pay. Past weekend i went to ski, i wore it and worked super.100% recomended

Very nice jacket. Bought this as a V-day gift for my girlfriend, and she loves it. It's puffy enough to keep her warm on the coldest winter days, but not so puffy that she looks like the Michelin man. The belt and fitted waist helps show off her curves too. The removable hood, ipod pocket, and the fact that it has both side and cargo pockets are nice features too.

This jacket was a little too bulky compared to some of the other parkas. It totally made me look like a space monkey!! LOL I'm too much of a diva for that....smile I'll wait until I can find the Metropolis parka. I dare not send a picture of this; I may run for political office in the future...LOL

I live in Manhattan and am not really a "sporty" person, but I have been looking for a warm jacket to wear this winter. This jacket fits the bill!!! It is very stylish and fashion-forward. It is not your typical ski/performance jacket (and you'll see it is recommended for casual use). I think it is edgy and cool. But it is definitely a noticeable look, so you must have some confidence to pull it off! Am very happy and surprised to have found a high-style look with North Face.
