Looking for warm winter boots? The North Face Men's McMurdo Winter Boots use 400g PrimaLoft insulation to achieve a -40F (-40C) temperature rating. Yeah, you could call them warm. Their Dri-Lex fleece lining keeps feet happy while the faux-fur collar adds a touch of style for around-town wear. The McMurdo Winter Boots also include TNF Winter Grip outsoles to keep you upright on slippery sidewalks and frozen trails.
Bottom Line: Keep your feet cozy all winter with The North Face McMurdo Winter Boots.
this is a bomber boot that is super warm, and fairly light weight for the size of boot. it has really good traction. I like to leave my laces loose at the top so I can slip the boot off and on, it took a bit of effort to slide out until the boots broke in after a few weeks.
These boots are worth every penny if you spend any time out in the cold. They are extremely comfortable and warm. I like the North Face brand of boots so much I bought a pair for everyone in the house. Because they seem to fit narrow, I found I had to go up 1/2 size. My foot is a D-E. Overall, great boot at a fair price, especially if you spend a lot of time outdoors.

I really like these boots but I disagree with the -40 rating on them. I was in 5 degree Fahrenheit temperatures shoveling my mother in laws driveway out in Midway, UT for a couple of hours & my feet definitely got cold. I was very surprised that I was getting cold since I was moving & working so hard shoveling. Once that rubber gets super cold on the lower boot you've got to keep moving, if I wasn't working so hard my feet would have frozen; I wouldn't trust these in 0 or less if you really need to count on them, but I really don't like being out working in that kind of cold, you'll be good in 32 degrees Fahrenheit to 0 degrees Fahrenheit, but once you're in the negative temps don't count on these being bomb proof against it.
Warm, dry, stylish yet functional. Bought these boots for the cold winter nights, post-skiing and romping around in the snow to class. They fit great and keep my feet warm ALL the time. Go ahead and kick the snow and puddles around, these babies are waterproof. Overall, they're a great investment piece for any wardrobe as they'll be there for a while assuming you don't go rock climbing every single day haha. go get em boys

Ok so I usually wear a 12 in TNF footwear. Should I try for a size 13 in these or should I stick with a 12? I already ordered the Chilkats in a 13 but really wanted these. Also how much warmer than the Chilkats are these?
Great question Todd.....(I am answering my own question in case anyone didn't notice) These boots are true to size and will break in to fit your foot. I always wear a 12 and even with some thick wool socks, they fit nice and snug. These are not good hikers but are superb for sidewalk shoveling, dog walks, and snowman wrestling!
Ive had these boots two winters now and they still work great. These boots fit very well and are much more comfortable than most winter boots Ive owned. These boots have mostly been used on snowy days and ski trips. Never noticed my feet getting wet. Only time I have gotten cold in them was during an early morning duck hunt with temps around -3 with a 15-20 mph wind. Not bad considering this is sitting for 2-3 hours with very little movement. Great boots would buy them again.
These are the warmest boots I've had in a while. Very water proof and the grip is great. I've only bit it once with these things on. Comfortable, even after 8+ hours. Highly recommended. Buy a half size up.
I gather from all Q & As that it's wise to go 1/2 size larger, but how is the support on these boots. I'm a runner and after snow blowing my drive for an hour and a half my feet are shot for two days. I currently wear an old pack boot. They're still warm enough but offer NO support
These are actually pretty descent for support. I would definitely bump up a 1/2 size but remember that it will also allow for a thin to medium thick insole. Try 'em out and if you just don't like them you can always return them.
I bought these for my son for Christmas. We live in Georgia but my son likes to travel and right now he's in Chicago and then he's on his way to NYC. I spoke with him today and asked him how the boots were. He said, "AMAZING". He said his feet are warm, dry, comfortable and he loves them. He said he's a southern guy with the best boots in the North !! It snowed all day in Chicago and he was out in it all day with his McMurdos. He has a high instep and he said they fit great. They are loosening up a little but in a good way. He LOVES them!!. I am thrilled about that. Backcountry did a great job of shipping them. They came quickly and packed really well. Great boots, great job Backcountry. Will do business again.
got these off of geartrade and they seem great and warm. They do run snug. I wear a 12 in TNF running shoes with room to spare, but the 12 I got in this is just perfect at 12. A thick sock may be uncomfortable. But they seem like there is enough insulation to have just a regular sock in it.
These are great boots for cold weather. I have feet that always get cold and these boots somehow do the trick. Definitely go up 1/2 size. I actually went up a full size and am glad that I did. The soles have good traction, but ice is ice, so you still have to be careful.
If you live in a snowy place, you need a great pair of snow boots. The McMurdos are super warm, comfy, and look pretty tight too! As others have said, size your boot 1/2 size up. And enjoy. These boots rule!
I bought the TNF McMurdo Winter Boots last winter (07-08), and so far I think they're very well made boots. I love the tread on the sole, as it can really grip well on ice. They've proven to be quite warm and waterproof, even on super cold winter nights in Salt Lake City. Utah winters can be pretty damn cold, and single-digit or below 0ºF temps are somewhat common. My McMurdo boots still kept my feet warm 95% of the time, but there were a couple times that I was standing around, not moving much, and my feet got a little chilly. Had I been moving around I doubt I would've ever had cold feet. These boots are very comfortable and look great. If you need a good, warm, well-priced, durable winter boot, then I recommend these.
good advise taken on going up 1/2 a size.. thanks to reading a review or two... so i got a 10.5 instead of a 10... perfecto' fits great, really warm and comfy, you can stay outside all day in them... lovely and they make the girls go crazy... yea... they just throw themselves onto my feet. and pet the fur collar :) thank you north face for all the bunnies im pullin :) he he they really are a great looking pair of boots.
